A neck hump, or Dowagers, is a kyphotic spine that rounds the most at the upper back. This is most often caused from long term poor posture while sitting, and can be fixed, but gets more difficult to do so each day that goes by. 🫣
Here’s a simple spine stretch that can help you begin unbending your spine. 👇
* Feel the back of your neck and locate the part of your neck that protrudes the most
* Get a foam roller, or better yet a cervical orthotic stretcher, and place it right on top of the bump
* Now lay on it for 5-10 minutes, slowly turning your neck side to side as you roll up and down.
Unfortunately, your neck will often return to the same hunched position after this stretch, as passive therapies like this do not provide the crucial strengthening and awareness components needed to create real change that lasts. 🙃
