This video series is a project log of me fixing my vehicle instead of taking it to a mechanic. I'd never done anything more than regular vehicle maintenance so this was very overwhelming to start. My confidence grew and I feel much more comfortable attempting bigger projects on my own after doing this. I do make some mistakes along the way and I don't hide anything during this project log. I was quoted over $3000 for the job but did it myself for just the cost of a few parts and my time. I did the whole project without too many "fancy tools" other than my when my neighbor helped me remove one part with a puller and his impact gun.
Leave the comment section for questions and comments related to the project. I'm happy to answer questions but I'll ignore trolls, BS, or overall useless comments. I spent a lot of time documenting and creating this video and my only goal is to help someone else with their project.

Impressive you did all this. I’m an ASE certified mechanic and most of the job was correct. There were a couple ways to get stuff off easier and put them back on easier but I understand the doublechecking and taking it slow to make sure it goes together all correctly and torqued to proper specs. I can appreciate the dedication to not give up and learning a new skill instead of biting the bullet and buying a new/used trans to install yourself or have a shop install. Probably saved $2k at least on parts and labor. At my shop I would have charged around $2300 for this whole job with a used transmission that would be somewhere in the $600-$1100 range. Or $3500 for a reman trans that cost $2200 by itself 😂 Here in Nashville parts have been going up in the last two years. Have no idea why since everything has gone back to normal and covid is gone! 😂😂😂

OMG, I am having a major problem with the shift lever assembly, I cannot get it in the transmission. My mistake was accidently taking it out when doing replacing my clutch and so far its been 2 days I attempted to put it in and nothing yet. It is difficult to line it up. An its even worse because I have to figure out what neutral is because I left my transmission in first gear when I parked it when I started the clutch replacement...

Nice! Good to see a transmission rebuild. I do have a question tho, does 5th gear feel a bit loose? I did a 5th swap and did everthing correctly but I am worried about that. Snap.ring went in beautifully with no problems as well as gears and hub. I feel playin the gear behind 5th hub. Thanks!

Mine all pressed together tightly (to specific measurements) and no play for me. You don't have any leftover parts do you..... 🙃

@WeBuildStuff absolutely nothing. Everything went on smooth, and the retainer clip went on easy. I've driven 100 miles and currently driving 🫣

@WeBuildStuff I just wanted some insight on whether or not something might be off. Tomorrow, I'll disassemble the 5th gear again to check for any abnormalities. Thank you!

@@tamara7859 I'm not a mechanic but I did figure my bearing issue out and save 2 grand instead of paying someome else. Wish I could help!
