In this video I will show you how I fixed my Kubota L3901 that would not start when the key was turned. The problem was due to a faulty safety switch.

Thanks for helping us all out. I haven't had this safety switch go out yet on my Kubota but have had the seat switch fail which also inhibits starting. Carry on bro

Thanks! sounds like the problem with my L4330. you helped me find the location of the switch. I'll remove and test it!

I was in the middle of a task when this happened, your 4 minute video saved me a ton of time and let me get back to work. I used a jumper wire to connect the two wire prongs after I removed my faulty switch and it started right up and ran. Was worried that if I was sending a neutral signal to the unit full time that it wouldn't run, but turns out the tractor isn't that smart. This will keep me going until the replacement switch comes in.

I'm really glad this helped you out! I didn't see any mention of this problem anywhere, so I posted it, hoping it would get at least one person out of a jam!

Thanks brother, used your video to get me out of a pinch. Needed to clear the driveway of snow, this kept me going!!!! sort it out when it gets a little warmer. Running an L3800, not the same wiring but the same problem. Best Regards

Thanks for making the video, saved my day! The safety switch for the PTO got stuck on my 3901 and now the hydrostatic safety switch issues. Saved me from having to call the mechanic. Much appreciated!

Just fixed a similar issue on my l3200. Turned out the switch was fine but the plunger wasn’t being pushed in far enough to fully engage anymore. You should hear an audible click when it engages all the way. You can test that just by pushing the pedal down and listening for the click when you release the pedal. It must have moved a bit over time. Removed the switch, loosened the nut on it and lengthened it a bit. Reinstalled it and the tractor started right up. Worth checking that before buying a new switch if you don’t have a multimeter to test the switch.

How far does the plunger have to be pushed in to make contact?

Does it make a buzzing noise when you try to start it? Out of blue yesterday 2501 LST would not start. When key is turned hear buzzing noise behind instruments and then nothing. Starter does not engage. Thank you

My 1997 B2100 has 4 of those switches but being of the vintage that it is all the switches have wires terminated with female molex plugs that plug into corresponding plugs in the harness ...the neutral safety is mounted on the speed selector slow , neutral fast instead of the treadle pedal , then there is on for the clutch and one for each PTO. Because there is no way to DETOX the internal contacts I bought new replacements for mine and are stored with an assortment of new spare parts that I keep inside the Kubota cabinet of my garage , even though the originals are still fine. Kubota parts prices are ridiculous and only go up by the day without reason or end so all my spare parts are earning interest , like money in the bank. If something fails like a starter or switch or whatever it is that can that keeps mine from starting I have it in my garage and do not have to wait for it or to go get it. In the winter that pays dividends big time. Recently I did an end run to the starter click that plagues the older models by installing a relay that feeds the starter solenoid directly from a fused positive wire tied directly to a the battery distribution block , but ...did so without bypassing the original ignition path from the ignition switch through the all the safety switches. It works great because the voltage drop from the ignition through series wires safety switches is totally eliminated. For as much money as these things cost it should not happen at all but with all the extra safety thing year after year parts quality gest cheapened and more expensive Good luck to all ..
