On TDCI & HDI engines No1 injector is the one on the right & you add 1 to 4 from right to left. I just had mine fixed & my mechanic got confused & then verified this with the injectors expert.

No.1 injector on these is the gearbox end one,....There's also no need to open any diesel pipes off the filter - open the 2 bolts that hold it, shove it back, leave all the pipes connected. Plenty space then & saves ages. Only hose you need open is the injector return line & it just pulls off, pushes back on. On the injectors themselves, just undo the 14mm nut, the pipes will pop off the injectors without undoing anything else. :-) It's roughly a 20 minute job to take off an injector & about the same to fit one/re-assemble the gubbins. Less after you do a few..

Be aware: On this Engine cylinder 1 is on the gearbox side !!

Hi did this go into limp mode, Be for you changed the bad injector at stand still if you revved to 3000 rpm would loads of smoke come out the exhaust like really cloudy,

Yes mate those were the symptoms, I found it was smoking in the engine bay too creating a big mess where the diesel is cooking on top in the engine

Hello, I've got a 2007 Fiesta TDCI 1.6, with the limp mode on. It could have any other kind of fix? Googled it and ppl saying it could be the heaters (don't know their name exactly, their purpose is to warm up the engine easier on very cold climate)

The TDCI motors 1.4, 1.5, and 1.6 are superb offerings from Ford. They can take quite a beating before serious wear can occur. About glow plugs which you speculate is the problem is a miniscule one. The Glow Plug's function is mostly when starting a cold engine. When you're trying to get the engine to turnover, the glow plugs heat the diesel so you can get the car running without cold start fuss - usually smoke, vibration, or repeated cranks to get it going. It doesn't stay on while the car in being driven for miles. Someone on Quora even asked this once. If glow plugs are critical to functioning of a car and whether a vehicle can run without one. The answer is it depends on where you are. If you experience frequent dip in ambient temperature, glow plugs are necessary to reduce the diesel viscosity. But if you're from tropical areas, you'll not even notice the plugs in operation or its effect on the car's performance. In warmer places, when plugs fail, they simply don't matter much or at all. But not something you should ignore when you're in Europe or other colder places. That said, these engines (TDCI) are somewhat notorious for injector issues, although not in the early days. Here, in India we have the same motor on cars like Figo Type 1, Fiesta, and few other Ford models from 2011 to 2018. In the used car markets, almost all 1.4 TDCI needs injector maintenance. Sometimes people MacGyver it by using diesel injector cleaners from Abro (best), LiquiMoly (next best), and Wurth (if it's the only choice). These cleaners mask vibrations and issues temporarily while you figure out something long term. Another problem with the TDCI engine is the carbon build up in the intake manifold and EGR valve. Most people aware of this issue, get their TDCI intake manifolds and EGR cleaned once every 80,000 km.

@@Sobin16 In my case I'm from Spain (hot country in general), the car doesn't gives any problem while driving except the limitation of power which is a bit dangerous when overpasses and that all. Even if my car doesn't ever ignites the glow plugs, the failure they're giving its the concern to be fixed. And I'm not sure what to do, but that diesel cleaner sounds a good-to-go idea! Hi good video mate I have the same problem with my ford fiesta zetec 1.4 tdci been told number 4 injector not right but on dash it says electric accreltor control fail? he put on dinostic it coming up with number 4 still will the code need to be wrote down so then it can be coded or will it work on its own thank you

@@CharlotteGreen-kv9sx from memory, it goes 4-3-2-1 from timing chain side to the gearbox. As I originally accidentally changed number 1 instead of 4 and then learned that it’s backwards on these engines. Hope that helps
