At first I thought, dam gophers. Old rock dams gonna hold up for a few more years. Watching you operate that equipment is an absolute pleasure and the results are always beyond satisfactory. Merry Christmas.

Don’t worry about the Gophers. Bill Murray looked after them in Caddyshack! (I spent 30 years in the Golf Course industry. That film was our Mantra!)

I've never used the roller compactor before. I've always used the vibrating tamper. I can see the benefit of using the rolling compactor because it will also mix the two substrates as it compacts everything. I think you're turning a lot of grown men into little boys wanting to be heavy equipment operators when they grow up..😂 now that I'm 54, I want to buy a mini-ex and do what you do.... thank you for the videos.

I would say that the effort you and John put in to minimize the damage and ease the final repairs is a big part of why the golf courses like having you guys do the jobs.

@@everestyeti track lines and wheel ruts and you do not have the equipment to repair? At least the golf courses have the equipment and staff for it but it's still better to have minimal cleanup for them.

Bentonite clay expands and holds together when wet and plugs holes in basement walls and pond dams when used correctly. Great idea to layer that in the dam.

Does that bentonite / clay combo become like a porous concrete? Or more watertight?

@@jonathanjudd3168 more watertight, bentonite expands when it absorbs moisture. when mixed with other natural clays, it is more long lasting as it doesn't leach out as much over time.

I know nothing about digging or excavating but I have to say: You, sir, are one of the very few people left on the planet who think ahead - e.g. flattening the surface so that it's easier for the other work team. Didn't take you very long at all, thanks to perfect machine control, but definitely makes a huge difference to those who do the next step - probably by hand. Hey just a little trick that we use on the jumping jack. Take a old strap and tie around the top bar on the jack so this way you can lift it with the bucket and not get too close to it

Makes you wonder how long that hole was there, before it started washing big chunks of soil out of the dam. I have a question for anyone who can answer, the stuff that was added to the soul does it just make the soil more clay like of does is do something else? Haven't come across is before. Nice job and nicely cleared up, but there again we wouldn't expect anything else from the dynamic duo.
