Recorded in January 2020: My 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac developed a transmission leak. I didn't know it was leaking until I jacked the truck up and saw plenty of fluid on cross members. I consulted friends and the Internet to discover that there is a sleeve called the connector, which has seals that wear out, and this was the likely culprit. The connector allows an electrical harness to plug into the transmission control module located inside the transmission.
I diagnose, repair and test the 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac in this video. I used this video as a guide: • Ford F150 6R60 & 6R80 ...

3/4" wrench for fill plug / dip stick
5/16" or 8mm socket for transmission pan

My 95 Ford Explorer was leaking from the Shift Shaft Seal, a 4.00 part, easy to replace. The ATF is what gets you, 50.00 for two gallons.

I noticed when you put the part in you did not lubricate the O rings. You should always lube the O rings by wiping transmission onto the ring. Do not remove the rings just coat them. This lessins any friction while installing. Much like coating a oil filter seal before screwing on an oil filter.

Geeze Pat, 72 more subscribers and you're at 1K! Keep a celebratory beverage of choice handy for when you do. As to the Sport Trac, they've always been a favorite of mine, but I've always purchased full size because I needed the larger bed size. But than never stopped me from tire kicking these and fwiw I have never seen an orange one like yours. Would you have the stats on how many were made? I do like it! Stay safe and Save the Wave.

Thanks Peter! I would prefer a full size truck but one wouldn't fit in my garage. When I first moved into my house, my dad lent me his F150 and it was too tall and I would need to manually move the mirrors in. That's the sad part of owning a split-foyer home with the garage under the living space. But, I'm very happy with the Sport Trac as it just fits and gives me the much needed room to haul what I need. The rear glass drops completely to create a space to haul long pieces of wood, etc. But I need to get drywall delivered as it will not fit. I'm not sure how many Orange Frost models were made. This color was on a pre-production test vehicle when my dad and I first saw it. I was a member of a Sport Trac forum online and someone in the forum got us exclusive access to the production facility in Kentucky. We met with Ford Executives and they had an Orange Frost model that my dad absolutely loved. That's why he ordered it. I haven't seen where this color was ever advertised on a brochure. I wish I knew the specs on the color.

Thanks Pat. I was hoping there might be a back-story to your Sport Trac. Fascinating.

*Hey Pat's Garage- when you're installing/replacing the entire transmission/torque converter exactly how much transmission fluid is needed for this vehicle?*
@PatsGarageOnline
@PatsGarageOnline 3 жыл бұрын
The transmission capacity is 11 quarts. I'm not sure if that includes the torque converter or not.

Great video Pat. How many quarts of transmission fluid did you actually have to pump back in after the pan drop? Was it 11 also or was it less?
@PatsGarageOnline
@PatsGarageOnline 3 жыл бұрын
@@jorgeroman3865 It was less but it was low. Always start the engine and let the transmission warm up so you can add more. You will need it.

Unfortunately, if you lost all the transmission fluid, you may have so much damage you need to have it rebuilt or replaced.

Pat I’m at car lot thinking of buying a 2008 one of these, overall do you think it’s been a good truck?
@PatsGarageOnline
@PatsGarageOnline 3 жыл бұрын
I've been happy with it for the most part. Got engine rod knock at 132k and had that replaced, as well as a radiator and battery. Front hubs only last about 70k miles before needing to be replaced. Other than that, it's been a great truck.

My 08 Sport Trac 4.6L V8 limited transmission pan is leaking. Never worked on the transmission with 207,000 miles currently. I've worked on everything else so it's due I guess. Just curious about the amount of quarts you had to put back in. I'm weary about that post mainly, never thought about the connection piece.
