The shift cables are adjusted by locking the gear lever in place with a pin (remove gaiter) and then releasing the cable springs. Alternatively I put paint on the cable thread and match it back up, rust marks also work as you found out!

I have Acura TL 6 speed and makes identical noise. Almost like a light tap 1 per engine revolution. TL only makes noise on warmup. Gos away with 10mm push of clutch pedal. Ive needed for past 200k miles. Thanks for info

I changed all set, but i feels like works to heavy and some times the car give a little shake inside when is in neutral

Andrew love the VIDEOS keep them coming just a quick question I have recently bought a 2008 Audi A4 3.0 TDI quattro and I think I need the same job doing on that. is it a similar process to what you are doing here taking in mind that it is a Quattro?

I have a skod octavia vrs mk3 2.0tdi I have the dmf rattle on cold start up when car is warm it is constant tapping noise even when press clutch pedal

I've got the rattle too, audi a3, I'm supposed to be part exchanging it, do I fix it b4 part exchanging?

My car does this same engine code my car judders when setting off did the Audi do this

No there wasn't really any juddering. It could be the same problem, especially as you've got the same noise. The juddering could also be engine mounts.

Is there a rattle when driving like really bad depending on acceleration then comes and goes while cruising.

In this case the rattle was only there at idle. There was no rattle whilst driving. A damaged CV joint can cause a clicking on acceleration, particularly when turning at the same time.

I have a Golf IV 1.9 TDI 4 Motion and I can hear flywheel knocking but just sometimes when Im engaging the clutch OR when the car was almost staling (there was a lot of stress on the flywheel) it knocked as well... On indle there is no noise and even while normal driving there is no knocking. What concerns me as well is that its hard to shift into first sometimes, especially while the car is rolling. I think thats a transmission issue... Well, after the winter Im gonna probably go and try repair it myself in the garage.

One more thing that is unknown to me is how hard could it be to remove 4x4 transmission... I recon Its gonna be harder to remove and install...

i have 1.9tdi octavia 2 and i had so much noise from the dualmass flywheel i thought it would catastrophicly fail any time, but i had absolutely no problems shifting gears, no problems while driving, just idleing in neutral was so bad. I took it to a mechanic just today, i just hope i didnt damage other components from delaying it too much. Its just interesting how different symptoms different cars can have.

My Ford Focus ST250 has a similar situation - the only deviation I have is I cannot hear the noise at all until the car warms up fully. Gutted as I only bought it a few weeks ago and my basic warranty covers £500 ... ffs - Its going back to Ford for diagnostics as they had it today but said they couldn't hear a noise. So i went and drove it, got it warm - took it straight back and the guy heard it then and immediately suspects dual mass flywheel early sign of defective. Will have to see what the next day of diagnostics whenever they contact me to arrange.

@@AndrewFixes Turned out one of the noises was the fuel sender pump in the tank... after all that another noise happened and it was the water pump on the engine block completely failed... I've got a few more noises going on but no EML or any symptoms to speak of, so I'm convincing myself its normal at this point 😅 The car stalls when I did a clutch lift test and there's no increase in clutch engagement noise... I do have this weird fan clipping like (belts?) sound when I accelerate, when I lift off the gas it stops immediately 🤷‍♂️ it's very quiet but always there.

Sounds like it might need a new engine mount, although it would be worth taking it back to the place that fixed it and getting them to check they reinstalled and tightened the engine / gearbox mount correctly after doing the work.
