My rhino iguana has a broken jaw, which is a serious medical issue, but after a visit to the vet we have learned that there is a more serious situation at play! This lizards life is in jeopardy.

Kenan use baby syringes that you can get with baby medicine I use for my lizards for feeding and medicine when I’ll you will get a better flow mate

If he asks his vet they will give him a bunch for free. I rescue tons of baby animals and go get them all the time.

Snake Discovery had the snake named Nick with half it's head missing that lasted quite a while. Never underestimate reptile's survival skills. Most people wouldn't have even gone this far. If she could talk I am sure she would say "Thanks Daddy Kenan for giving me a chance to live"

i think it's important for humans to understand that different species have their own unique way of personality, ritual and communication. Like, some animals dance to mate for example. I would say (if a lizard could speak) that it wouldn't speak anyway and would be like "hmpf" in a appreciation way. and yes, we know how you meant by "thanks daddy". just wanted to imagine how a lizard would be in reality if it was capable of such things

We had twin foals several years ago, one was very ill and ended up with an infection in the bone. It took antibiotics three times a day for a year but she made it! She will be 12 next month. Nursing care has a huge amount to do with them surviving! If anyone can pull her through, it's you!

She must feel miserable, but she's in good hands. The vet was really good with her. With a lot of Kenan Care, she will be feeling good in no time. Kate is beautiful just a little camera shy. Happy Easter!

Try Pedialyte instead of water. She can use the electrolytes. I'm used to feeding baby birds, but I'm sure your Iguana could use it too.

I was a veterinary technician for 20 years.. it is unbelievable sometimes what a mess some Little critters will get into or do to themselves!! It's also unbelievable how amazing they can heal.. I enjoy watching your channel.. I found you while watching Joey the king of DIY, when he went swimming in your cichlid pool/ pond.. Thoughts & prayers for a speedy recovery! I hate this happened to your girl. This goes to show the reality of caring for your pets-that no matter how much love and attention you give them or how careful they are, sometimes things just happen. It's good that you have shown the videos in which it does so that people can understand & see that side of things as well as the good stuff!

Hopefully she pulls through. Our family just lost one of our horses to a cancer that was eating away her face. It's never easy to lose an animals, it's always refreshing to see them pull through.

Omg this brings back memories back in 1990 I opened nail polish with my mouth and broke my jaw and had to be wired shut. I was losing weight so fast I was given a feeding syringe just like you are using to feed myself. I actually have pins in my jaws and a plate under nose so I understand perfectly what this lizard is feeling I pray he get well soon it took me months thanks for sharing and keep up the good work

embrace n reborns this just scared me because I’ve opened up nail polishes with my mouth before too I know it sounds crazy but if they’re hard to open then I sometimes do it too😩 had no idea you could break your jaw from that I hope you’re doing okay now

Exotic animal vet tech here!! Use a tiny amount of surgical lube on the rubber plunger. It helps SO much with assist feeding and wound flushing. Tiny tiny amount. I rub it on with a cotton swab.

Have you tried mineral oil on the rubber of the syringe to lube for a smoother expulsion on the food? I'm sure you know this, but thought it was worth a mention. Wishing a speedy recovery and no extenuating issues.

Buy different syringes. You can get some from like baby tylenol/motrin. It's smoother and doesn't stick. Plus a full syringe of that size is way too much to be giving her.

I got squeeze bottles from Amazon that would work for flushing the wound. I use them to water my seedlings, great control and no sudden blast of water!

I hope she gets better, and I don’t know a lot about iguanas but maybe try the saline wound spray for cleaning food off her face? It seems like it’d be more gentle than the syringe of water (tho I think that was originally to tube feed her fluids?) I’m sure you can give her the best care possible

Geez, alot of negative comments mixed with the well wishes. I understand he didn't do everything perfect but lighten up people. Give him credit for showing that not everything about animal care is peaches and cream. I'm sure if you were in a similar situation you probably wouldn't do it 100% right the first couple of times either. Good luck with her Kenan!!! NO! HE DOES THIS ALL THE TIME! Kenan never takes his animals to the vet when they need to go. He thinks he's a vet and treats these poor creatures with some unsanitary ointment and Qtips that were laying on a dirty table. That junk dirty ointment is probably full of contaminants and that's what she has such a bad infection. So many NASTY wrong things being done to this poor animal that its heart breaking. This guy obviously can't afford to care for all these animals when they get sick and need vet care.

@@Cyndy101 -again i state that he didn't do it 100% perfect but i don't see where your getting your info from. if he really wanted to do something shady he could have just not made the video at all and few would be the wiser. he didn't have to show this, but give him credit for being honest and letting people know that these things DO happen even if you provide decent care. please attach a link to another video of kenans if you think this is something that happens more often than it should. i'd be interested in seeing what you are referring to as All The Time

Oh wow! I didn’t know you were so close to me!! I follow Will, Chandler, Tyler, etc. and we’re all so close. That’s great!🐍❤️🐍 Also: I was a Vet Tech for 15 years……use new syringes. When they’re older, they stick like that. And use several small ones, changing them out on the other end, they’re easier to control. Feed her slower, that was a bit too fast. Cheers!

Yes the GIANT syringes he has should be in the garbage. I don't understand why people keep the syringes. Toss them and get new ones at the vets when your animals need them. Plus for sanitary reasons and this girl has an infection already! That ointment is probably also laced with bacteria, he's used it on ever animal. Gross. The Qtips laying on dirty table and then dipped into the ointment is just HORRIBLE. Kenan has no clue about treating wounds and has caused the infection.

Use a spray bottle you can control the stream, or a garden sprayer, either would be better to wash her off than those syringes

Rub a bit of cooking oil on the rubber part of the plunger Kenan. I use those syringes to feed baby parrots.

A pressure sprayer from the dollar store would be helpful to clean her off. You could adjust the nozzle and pressure to get a gentle spray around her face. Good luck with her Kenan!

@@comedianmattrossey I always have one on hand. Automatic misters for the tropical vivs where the plants like a lot of water and the pressure sprayer to water the plants in my arid viv and to quickly spray down whatever I need to.

@@robhutchanimation Same reason I have one Rob. I got that idea from Tanner from SerpaDesign a few years back when I first found his channel. The misters work great. I was going to go all out and get a really good one at RONA or HOME DEPOT, but the cost was ridiculously high. I found them at the Dollarama for $2 CDN. They are my go to for watering now.

Hi I hope you don't mind a question for someone who doesn't have but loves your videos. I heard you say that this lizard was not used to being outdoors, and with you right now it seems so calm and yes it's medicated but still it seemed so calm maybe the nice thing to do would be to leave it inside the cage in the house for the rest of its life because that's what it's used to it was bashing its face in before maybe if it's inside the house with the family, it won't do that. Just a thought.

Rather than giving her water in a separate syringe, couldn't you just add water to the smoothie? Then you could wash her face with a pressure misting bottle. Also, I find that pre-moistening the syringes with water can make it easier to push down the plunger smoothly. So that you don't have to deal with the friction of the dry rubber on plastic jumping and causing it to all blast out at once. If the issue still persists, then the liquid is too thick for the size of the syringe tips. Maybe breaking meals into two separate times could reduce the chance of over-filling her and causing her to regurgitate. Someone already mentioned pedialyte, that could help stabilize her faster, since losing electrolytes from not eating and also regurgitation can contribute to further regurgitation.

I lost an iguana due to a parasitic infection. It hurts because they’re beautiful animals and they’re really under appreciated in the animal kingdom. But there difficult to take care of. We just have to continue to learn valiantly about their health and care so more people don’t make the same mistakes. I admire your dedication.

If you can find o-ring syringes they are so much easier and smoother to use. I use them for hand feeding.

If you go up to a pharmacy counter ask the pharmacist for a 10cc/20cc syringe without a needle. Much easier to manipulate with one hand. And more appropriate sized feeding for smaller reptiles like her. Each time you reuse syringes they lose a little lubrication and flexibility and with those monster size ones the plunger just ends up catching inside the resevoir. You'll get the same issue when a smaller syringe gets old but because they fit in your hand better and the plunger is smaller it is less hassle to push through, and trust me on this I have VERY small hands, lol. Happy Easter, I'll keep my fingers crossed that she continues to do well.

You can take the syringe apart and ad a tiny amount of lube or some olive oil (use what you think is safest for the animal) to the side of the rubber part and the syringe should work much smoother. The rubber part loose the original lube and dry up a little bit if you have used the syringe and cleaned it a few times.
