Thanks for emphasizing establishing trust and a positive relationship with reptiles is possible. Clint and the guy from NERDS did a video on this same topic yesterday. I have worked with green iguanas for years. we have to change our behavior first and understand where they are coming from.

I have also kept green iguanas and never had an issue with them. I think most people just don't take the time to develop a stable relationship with them. Understanding an animals wants ,needs, and emotions are key when trying to develop trust. Body language is a big part as well, yours and the animals.

@@MrGir187 Green Iguanas have a bad reputation they don't deserve. They will give you plenty of nonverbals if they don't want to interact. I've only been bit once but I have had my share of tail whippings LOL.

Loved the video. Just watched a video Clints Reptiles made with Nerd about how they socialise their animals inc their Asian water monitors. Would be cool to see you meet them, although I def think the enclosures they have them in need improvement. I would like to learn more about Dumerils monitors if that’s something you could show as they seem to be slightly easier to keep but I don’t know much about them. Your videos really are the highlights of my week atm, thank you for everything you do.

I think the fact that Lagatha allows you to be on her blind side shows a modicum of trust that you aren't recognizing. Animals with a blindness on 1 side will often not allow you to be on that side if they don't trust you. They will do everything in their power to keep you where they can see you. You are doing great work Kenan.

Take the chance and get some scratches in and that will help build bonds. That’s what I did with my Nile monitor and he is a doll to work with year and half and 4ft and still growing

Great to see Slinky! He's getting BIG! I "only" have two savannah monitors, and I work with hand gestures (also works with mongooses or big fish). 🤟= food, 🖐= finished, ☝️= attention, and if all goes wrong I do🖕hihi But seriously, it works. Key is to be consistently. 🖐 really is finished, even though I see there's food left in the bucket. I don't give it. Stay healthy. My fav is the crocmonitor By far. But Im going for a watermonitor soon. 🔆
