I take a crack at making it easier to take belts on and off the Work Sharp Ken Onion Mk. 2. In my previous review I noted how this will likely be a problem for people looking to use this professionally. • Leather Belts on the W...

Worksharp did put alot of thought into the Mk 2...but not enough!..the observations and solutions you have shown should have been picked up and resolved before its release to the user!...great video again!

Thanks. I’ve probably sharpened 150 knives on my modified version. Other than getting the belts on and off, it is a better tool in all aspects thus far.

Thank you! Proud owner of modded #462. As I expected, my harbor freight foot pedal won’t work with the new mk2, but at least it’s a bit easier to lock on continuous vs mk1. I wish it wasn’t powered on, if plugged in, but for my application it will be plugged into a 2kw power bank, that is powered off between stops.

Good job! Seeing the way the guard mounts, you could really get it down to almost nothing, but now at least you've gotten rid of most of the fluff that was interfering. I do see a couple of routes to go with on the thumb lever, but you've probably had enough trauma from this tool surgery for a bit-lol! I'm sure someone will do a 3D print of a super slimed down piece that has the degree markings and uses just one screw, leaving it really open on the side. Now you have a Ken Onion Elite Pro MK2 Work Sharp. I'm super grateful that you showed this mod, because it really gave me a good look at what's in there and how everything works in relation. It's a clever but flawed design and most of that has to do with covering things up so it has a slick look to it. Probably a younger designer that's worked in the auto industry and not familiar with the KISS method of design. Keep It Simple Stupid. As soon as I see one on sale or maybe an open box model, I'll be picking one up. Thanks again!

You did a great job, and I am sure you will not be the only one. I will wait and see how you get on with it over time before I decide whether to replace my old one .

You madman. I can't believe you did it so fast!! Also thanks for the mention. I hope it works out well.

Why not leave it off
@brianfoster7064Ай бұрын
It seems like you can run it without the cover without issue.
@jab0321Ай бұрын
That's what I was thinking, is there any reason to have the plastic cover on there at all? Actually I think you need it for the angle reading.
@2216sammy7 күн бұрын
@@jab0321 That plastic cover is terrible . I would leave it off UNLESS you have to change the angle .

Where do you get that bench mat?

It came with the Precision Adjust Elite.

Thanks for the response. I have no sharpening gear and am trying to learn all I can before jumping in full send.
@simplysharpatl8 күн бұрын
@@fluffykitten5773 I’d recommend against full send. Buy a Work Sharp Ken Onion or a Rikin variable speed 1x30. Both are good and inexpensive. Sharpen a hundred knives on them. Then start charging. Sharpen a thousand knives as a business and see if it’s right for you and you can make it work. Then get into more equipment if necessary. Email me at hello@simplysharpatl.com if you want to connect. I do offer a business in a box service, but happy to answer any questions for free as well.

Sweet. Thank you for sharing this. Too bad you have to fix a new updated $300 machine to be as as easy to use as the old model it is replacing. Lol
@simplysharpatlАй бұрын
Ha. Yeah. Other than that, it is better in most regards. As I’ve been using it more and more, I’m really digging the ability to adjust angles while it’s running. The cruise control is pretty sweet.
@fuelediowaАй бұрын
@@simplysharpatl I am concerned on my downward pressure. This may sound odd but I feel I use the tone of the motor bog to keep a consistent pressure. Not that I use much pressure just enough to make sure I get a consistent convex. If that makes sense.
@simplysharpatlАй бұрын
@@fuelediowa I get you. Sound is gives important feedback when sharpening. However, I’d suggest if you are bogging down the motor, you may be using too much pressure. Sometimes it’s called for, but I find light pressure is typically the way to go.

@@simplysharpatl Adjusting the angles while it's running ? I think the original is vastly superior .
