Appreciate the detailed “how to” I have a 2001 FZ1. Do you know the difference between the orange and green? Also what oil do you run? Thanks again for a great video

With motorcycles, non of them are particularly picky when it comes to coolant. As long as you use a coolant that is safe on aluminum (which nearly all of them are) you are good to go. Basic engine ice or prestone 50/50 coolant is all you need.

What size is the crusher washer? Can I just get one from the building material store? Or better to go straight to yamaha? Thank you
@Calvinm
@Calvinm 5 ай бұрын
Pretty sure it’s a M6 size if you’re looking at a hardware store. Any copper crush washer of the same size will suffice.

Hi there. I want to buy a Yamaha fz6. My only concern is that it has about 100k kilometres. Should I buy it or I should pass it?
@Calvinm
@Calvinm 2 ай бұрын
These bikes last a loooong time and have even gone past 200k km’s. I would recommend you ensure the maintenance has been done. If it has it could go on forever.

@@Calvinm thank you for your answer. I think that the maintenance has been done correctly. The bike was crashed 3 years ago. The owner sent me a video about the crash. He just slipped on the road, there were marks on the engine block and they were welded. The guy said that since than the bike is running perfectly. Should I be concerned or it is fine and I should go ahead and buy it?

There's no need to "flush" the cooling system with fresh water after removing the old coolant and filling with new coolant?
@Calvinm
@Calvinm 5 ай бұрын
Not really. You get about 95% of the coolant out without flushing it so I wouldn’t say it’s necessary.

@Calvinm do you still have your motorcycle? I bought a fz6
@electroevolution5777
@electroevolution5777 3 ай бұрын
Its not about getting all of the coolant out. Sometimes if you dont change the coolant after a long time, gunk and rust starts to occur as the coolant has degraded passed its shelf life. Flushing helps remove all of those contaminants before refilling with coolant.

Should the radiator be completely full when the bike is completely cold?
@Calvinm
@Calvinm 6 ай бұрын
Yes, it should be full right up to the cap when it’s leaning on the side stand.

Do you flush the system with distilled water after releasing the old coolant? Or is that not needed if the coolant is still looking good?
@Calvinm
@Calvinm 12 күн бұрын
That is an extra nice thing to do for your cooling system, but not necessary. It would potentially get more gunk and bits out of your cooling system though. I just drained the coolant and refilled.
