I think the home teams should all have similar colours and the trams and buses should be that colour so we know at a glance what ones are going to the games!

Clubs and pubs in the stadium district! Good place for the NPCs to go before and after games and also makes the area not so dead whenever a game isnt going on. Also will make the tram stops within the area not so useless whenever nothing is happening nearby.

Bedford Square is looking good! I love the stadium area, it looks super busy with all the different stadiums so close together. Maybe you could place some little food stands/market stalls around the entrances? Like the food trucks from the parks, I think it'd make for some nice detailing in the future.

All the stadiums together near the highway is super realistic, I live nearby that area in my city and I see it in most American cities. Another thing they have near them usually are bars, casino, hotels, "leisure" things like that. So people coming for a weekend game can stay nearby and gamble too lol

Ah, that's interesting. I think it's quite UNrealistic for UK cities, although there are a couple of cities or towns that have a cricket stadium next to a football stadium, but my first thought was that it was quite unusual to have multiple stadia next to each other. Where there is, for example, a rugby and a football team in the same city, they might even share the stadium, such as with Coventry City Football Club and Wasps Rugby Club.

Someone mentioned using the food truck park assets and I love the idea of having some food trucks near the tram turn around and plaza, like a place to grab a quick lunch/breakfast while waiting for your train/bus/tram! Also there is a lone tree smack in the middle of the in field behind 2nd in the small baseball field closer to the coast.

The redo of the townhouse area is awesome now! I definitely saw/liked the vision you had but I think for me it was just the particular assets that weren't doing it. Also the jumps in-between episodes are cool too, its like a time jump in a tv show or something, it gives a sense of progress happening without being tediously involved with everything along the way.

there's a mod called ROTTERdam that came out after you stopped playing two years ago that fixes terrain tearing glitches like the one at 14:50 ;) edit: also, toll booths don't have sidewalks, so the stadium area is inaccessible to pedestrians coming from the beach or the residential area unless they take public transit
@sum1rllyspecial
@sum1rllyspecial 2 жыл бұрын
A way to charge those pedestrians is making the stadium area a park, and the only pedestrian stadium access through park gates. That way anyone who wants to go to the game by car or by walking must pay a toll.

I feel like this time arround you trully have way more fun playing this game. You really needed a break. Love this run so much, the downtown looks great ! About the intercity train : I feel like you should just tunnel under the river and the rest of the city to avoid headaches, it's fine. I'm guessing also there's underground train stations now, it would be a way to link the university directly to the downtown.

I think the statue of industry should go under the rails. Cause think of how cool it would be to see that statue, as four different trains roll over you. Then think of how awful it would be if you where sitting in a park, eating a sandwich, when four different trains roll over you.

Since the original idea for this series was so that you could play as you wanted (originally without mods), I think it's good that you did a bit of building off-camera.. and enjoyed doing so. If you feel like doing that again, I'm okay with that. I liked the "tour" at the beginning because it helped to catch up with what you've done. Thanks, James.

@flabs main suggestion i would say as someone whos played american sports my whole life. Most often the professional stadiums are not surrounded by smaller recreational ones. I can only think of a few places where that is the case. What DOES happen often, and I have gone to these my whole life, are large sports complex's where amatuer and youth players would play for their club or travel teams. These will often mix together the sports, with baseball next to baseball, football next to football, and soccer next to soccer, with a central area for concession and parking, and the fields surrounding them.

we love that you're enjoying playing this series. its so much fun to just watch you build and figure stuff out for hours, i find it really relaxing! i think a metro system would work the best for the stadiums, the trams look awesome though. love the changes you made to the mid-rise area, looks super outskirts of a city now. i think some hotels and resteraunts around that area or near the stadiums would look nice, makes sense that a lot of people would travel for the games and potentially want to stay overnight?
@adrikosmos
@adrikosmos 2 жыл бұрын
Maybe consider having express transit (tram, bus, etc) to the stadiums from the most popular stops, maybe even for a specific stadium. Seems like a lot of people go from the train station/main entrance to the stop in front of the soccer field so maybe have a line that only goes to those 3 places, for example.

Loved this video! It might work to have one (or both) of the middle tracks at the train station, cross the bay/river by bridging the first half, then going into a tunnel at the island to pop out somewhere near the university area. Or just tunnel the whole river. And it could be cool to put a garage or a building over the tram turn around so it just looks like they're going into another part of the depot.

I have a suggestion for the rail lines going north out of the downtown towards the suburbs. You’ve got 4 lines right now, with one line hooked up with the suburb section of the line. What if the other three lines went up towards the Bedford Village area and then diverged from there? You could have one line that goes west (maybe it even loops all the way around and connects to the station from the south?). You could have a line that just goes on and continues north. And you could have a line for outside connections that bridges over around where you have that highway bridge. That third rail could snake around the undeveloped perimeter of the suburbs and eventually hook into the intercity rail line once you buy a few tiles.

We appreciate you playing City Skylines all day, James! What I really think could help the train lines is also thinking about adding 'nature corridors' BUT also nature corridors would just be amazing to see! Think it could present interesting challenges when having to also factor in for nature. Land bridges for wildlife, green corridors, from coast to the nature reserve, all connected, potentially via the train lines. The work looks amazing! I love the raised station with all the shops in the arches below.

Who wants to go through a toll booth to see their kid play? It could be nice to make some high schools like that big elementary school you did, placing the fields behind them or nearby. They could also make good 'green space' parks or something.

Everything is looking so good! i actually love how much rail is happening in the city. As a Sydney-ite, it gives me strong Central vibes. those other lines in the centre could join up to the other lines just in front but then branch off to other far flung parts of the city yet to be made, i feel it, and they could stop at the same stops but then go to the other sections thereby creating connections in those already exisiting parts to the new sections. i like it.

I live in the Netherlands where trains are a vital method of transport, both for intercity travelling and comuters. And as far as I know the 3 biggest cities, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague all use elevated rail for their main stations. In Rotterdam the train tracks in eastern direction go directly from elevated tracks to tunnels. So for busy downtown areas elevated railway tracks are the most efficient way to bring in the trains, even though they might not look the prettiest.

Pump up the Tram, pump it up!🎶is what i was singing in my head when you got more of them. Love the stadium area and how you need to pay toll when using a car. I guess it maybe influences how many people use public transport as well. It's a shame you cant set a policy to double public transport on game days like how you can make it free. That would be a nice feature to have. Ooh also if you're looking for a good tram, i use one called Railwhale from the workshop, theres a 3 car variant with 200 capacity, ad a 6 car version with 410 capacity i use and theres other versions as well. (and a metro version) Also also.. Instead of the ugly crematorium there is a nicer looking building in the other tab in the health category. Its a cryopreservatory but functions like a crematorium. Could be usefull when you need deathcare in an area you dont want a crematorium. Enough rambling, love the series. You do you and how you want to play. Love seeing just the results just as much as the process.

Thanks for this series. At 1:10:53, just a hint about your TM:PE settings. You mentioned in the past that you hated that cars were only using one lane. If you change the slider of Dynamic Lane Selection to something above 30-50%, that might get cars using more lanes. Also in TM:PE, in the policies tab, there is a button for BUSES IGNORE LANE ARROWS. You can use that so that you don't have buses making loops all over the place where you don't want. In the same policies tab, you can also make flowing through intersections the default instead of changing all the intersections. Just suggestions. Keep up the great work!

Instead of having the roads as bridge over the rail ditch, upgrade the street to ground level. And turn a small section of rail into tunnel. It will look a lot better and you will be able to use the street space normally on ground. The short sections of rail tunnels will look as if the street is a bridge. Make the tunnels aa short as possible, right to the street edge.

I have to watch the video after this one, but I'll still put thoughts here, having not watched the newest one just yet. I love the toll roads that you've added for the Stadium. What i'd do next, is add a toll on the "Express Way", or on the main highway once you get that complete. If you build an Airport, you could add a Toll there. For the University -- as you get that way, I'd add the Varsity Stadium there, and an Aquatics Center :) Just a thought!
