Thats amazing! I would love to see some photos of your flak 38 if you have the time. I imagine that it was a lot of fun to restore! Part 3 is finished and I am planning on setting it to public within the next couple of weeks. It isn't as good as the first three parts (mainly because I don't have an actual flak 38!) but hopefully it will be a good end to this series.

Wait a second, you own a flak 38?! If you do, then that is awesome. I own or have handled just about everything related to them except for the weapon itself. Such an interesting weapon that does not get the recognition it deserves. Glad you enjoyed the video!

Of the 30 odd survivors, it is the oldest and one of only two with the Flakvisier 40 analog computer still installed. Sorry it took me so long to respond, KZfaq flagged your response as spam for some reason and I didn't see it. I applied to join the Facebook group, looks like a great community, lots of good photos and information. I had no idea that any Flakvierling were in private hands here. You should let me come and make a video on your Flakvierling, might be able to solicit some donations for the project from it.... It took me forever to find that mag and can! I am still looking for a "friend" for my magazine so I can have a full can.

@@MilitariaReviewed did you see the latest haul? 28 Flak 38 magazines in boxes. All need restoration but 21 are in easily restorable condition. This brings my total magazine supply to 44! Any time you want to shoot a video,, you are welcome.

@@chrischase3784 I did see that post! That is a ton of magazines, surely you must have one of the largest collections of those in the world. I am going to Show of Shows in Louisville at the end of July to try and find another magazine and some other flak items. I'll send you a message if I am ever up your way and see about making a video on your flakvierling.

Yup! The earlier versions had more windows but they were simple cut-outs with no cover. Like you said, the windows on later mags were only good for knowing if it was completely full or not. This actually makes since because spring pressure was extremely heavy even when only a few rounds were loaded in. If you lost track of how many you put in it would be hard to tell based of that alone unlike magazines for small arms. Of course when you only have 20 rounds and limited amount of time to fire at a flying target you want to make sure that magazine is fully loaded!

@@MilitariaReviewed (If this wasn't a rhetorical question😅) Eastern front, Hungary. There was an ammo warehouse, which was destroyed possibly by germans as they had to retreat. There's exploded ammo everywhere in the ground, thousands of blown rounds, but what I really like is when there are piles of fired 2cm casings, which tells that some combat happened here. Parts from Flak 30 tool boxes and the flash hider of it were closeby as well. p.s. I usually post my finds in "Panzer Archeology" Facebook group, it's a pretty good place for discussion, check it if you would like🙂.

Glad you liked the video. Unfortunately I am 2 years behind on part 3. I actually had a third part finished but ended up scrapping it because I wasn't satisfied with the level of information it contained. I have since had some previously unavaliable records pulled from the Bundesarchiv that will be incorporated into part 3. I am planning on getting the new version out by the end of the year at the latest.

You are right, it is not the original. I have heard from some people that it may have been applied by the Norwegians post war. I am in the process of removing the green to expose the original ordnance tan.
