I am watching the dial while you were indicating the first one in, thinking you're going the wrong way, with your jaws. Bloody upside down Ozzies...then I remembered your working from the ID!...Oh 💩... nevermind! More coffee at 0530 Sunday morning. Nevertheless, despite my silliness, good stuff as usual and that lathe is just the perfect size IMHO for many things. Shop is nice and bright and I noticed you have the proper girly calendar picture hung up on the wall there. Atta boy Max, you'll keep! Cheers

Love the outro images :) I'll never forget the first time I saw flame spraying, I was a snotty nosed apprentice spark working at the Pomona Docks in Manchester when the last working 60 horsepower electric motor went tilt, they worked through the night to repair the races on the shaft and other work that I was involved in. All that to get a Manchester Liners ship out that had to make a tidal window in Liverpool. We just made it. Flame spraying was a black art to me back then, but the memory is burned in for sure :)

@@kempy666999 All of them have their place. Not talking down what Curtis does but for me almost all of what he does is of little interest to me or likely to help much in what I do. I get far more out of Stefan G as it is far more what I get up to or are likely to do in my shack. The comments section warriors on Abom's, Topper and others need to figure it out that it is not a dik swinging contest.

Bang up job Max, and better than Abom because all he does now adverts descised as jobs . Max and Matty's workshop are the real deal.
@seabreezecoffeeroasters799416 күн бұрын
You clearly need to be a little more selective with your viewing if it offends you. A couple of hours touring Starrett as an example is way more than an 'advert'. All of the setups and hicups of the recent Vice build is of way more value than anything Jason might gain is sales. Just because ANY KZfaqr you watch for FREE doesn't suit change the channel!

Thanks . Don't forget Abom started his channel 11 years ago & maybe he felt going in another direction was for the better , or maybe it was to do with Motion not allowing him to film . He still had his home shop though , maybe he just wanted a change in direction . Out of everyone who does not like his new content & cans of CRC , i don't recall anyone noticing he had his brand new shoes on back to front when doing the leveling feet on the Pacemaker ! I still watch him , he still has some good shows . Cheers 👍👍👍
@seabreezecoffeeroasters799415 күн бұрын
@@swanvalleymachineshop I think what some miss is so much of the tooling and in particular work holding applies to both CNC and manual machining. Pierson's channel is still worth a watch for example even if you aren't going to own CNC or use any of their product. The ideas are the content.

Impressive stuff Max. I guess this is the way you really make money. No f**king around, heat up the expensive part and make it work. Fumbling around with not so critical parts for some time now and here we are scorching expensive parts and make it work. Did you meet Kurtis from CEE machining? Same stature as you. Get it done and all the new beards just went past you with nothing to account for. Thank you for sharing this with us too. I wish you all the best, Job

Excellent job! And that’s how you get the silver. In the first trumpet you spend approximately 2:30 minutes; how thick was the metal coating? In the second trumpet you mention .005” + thread after an undercut. I love your videos because you don’t play magician… “clap and done”. Of course you cut repeats (like dialing the 4 jaws) but I can get an Idea of how long an expert takes to do the job.

Hi Max, we used a metal spraying company in Freo in the eighties and nineties for our electric motor shafts. I always used a inductive bearing heater so as not to disturb the metal spray material when fitting the bearing. Removing bearings would result in most cases pulling off the metal spray substrate and would have to be sent out for repair again but it did the job as intended. Nice save on expensive part and good too see the JFMT earning its keep.
@swanvalleymachineshop15 күн бұрын
No worries . Yes , there are special techniques to remove bearings easily as not to do damage , I usually hang the part by the crane upside down , spin it around fast then a quick heat with a big torch . 👍
@willemvantsant510515 күн бұрын
Hi Max, I used a special technique on a 200 hp plus motor, removing a welded on bearing on the drive end. Sledge hammer and oxy in hand, hitting the inner race a small fragment penetrator my overalls and into my inner thigh. Xray to confirm position and Doctor with scalpel removed offending fragment, surprised how deep it penetrated , my Daughter watching and cringing at the sight
