Great Video, Used geometic heads alot back in the 1970's and 80's. You are lucky to have all the cutting dies for those heads. I love the camera shots, and the closeups were for real. But the Slow-Mo shots. WOW. I need to work on that technique. Your videos are always special, But this one Really Stood Out. Thanks for shareing.

Your explanations are invaluable. Your demonstrations are fun to watch, but hearing the rationale helps a layperson like me really appreciate what's going on. Max, it's not about a DRO. Maybe you're just getting old. If the readout on the dials is still valid it's about processing them yourself with a calculator and a fresh head. I hope you become a lot older in good health and.. fit for purpose; making great videos! Thank you Max! I like your style. If it can be done quick and dirty it will be so. Saves a lot of time and money. Not fancy pancy counting microns; just get it to work! Best! Job

Another way of getting a more accurate reamed hole is to use a drill, a milling cutter and then a reamer. Had to have 2 x 20mm dia holes 85mm apart. Tolerance was 85mm +/- .005mm. Tightest tolerance I have ever done at the time. Was on a new clamping arm on a cold saw. Got it first time using DRO on Bridgeport clone. Holes had to be parallel and right distance apart in 25mm thick steel. I was chuffed as I am only a self taught machinist.

I'm not young, don't want to say old either. Max along with a handful of other KZfaq machinists (Blondie, Curtis, ToT, etc.) are wonderful teachers with amazingly different styles of "teaching" and are a wealth of knowledge for us "hobby" and new to machining machinists. Max your video lengths are just right.
@ElmerJFudd-oi9kj3 күн бұрын
@@LeonardRoberts What is your point exactly Leonard?
@LeonardRoberts3 күн бұрын
@@ElmerJFudd-oi9kj my point would be you are never too old to learn or to start a new hobby. There are many very good machinists that put their skills and knowledge out on YT. If you learn a different way to approach an issue from any of them they are "technically" your instructor. I have just taken up the hobby of machining mainly to learn to make parts for any of my old farm implements.

great channel if you chamfered the drilled hole slightly larger than the reamer it will provide a machined surface that your reamer will follow this helps keep up the good work :)

Hi Max I guess you don't have a 17/64" (6.747mm) drill which would have left your 7mm hole much closer to your target size for reaming.

Nice work Max. Regards spacers for the milling pallet, I have a selection of key steel cut to length as required. It is fairly cheep and won't kill the drill bit or milling tool if you hit it. If you need higher accuracy, the surface grinder will see to that. Cheers from Darwin.
