Flash flooding in Dubai as storm dumps historic rainfall

A rainstorm that dumped more than five inches of water and hail Tuesday in Dubai has led to flash flooding and closed operations at Dubai International Airport. CBS News senior foreign correspondent Charlie D'Agata is following the unusual weather event in the United Arab Emirates.

I am here in Phx AZ 26 yrs when it rains stormsewers or not it floods just like the pictures from the UAE. Take a look at the underpasses at I 17 and Greenway and I 17 and Thomas they have drainage and storm sewers and flood EVERYTIME it rains makes no difference at all!!

The report said they saw that storm coming and didn’t seed those clouds. This wasn’t a result of that. Also remember clouds move, so even if they seeded clouds days ago it wouldn’t impact that storm

I lived there for six years. I still have loved ones there. My friend and her children were evacuated via raft today. The infrastructure isn’t set up for this amount of rain. There no real sewer system. Even gutters are rare.

Dubai was such a nice place to live. Very diverse and they had ATM's where you could buy gold bars. Luxury cars were just abandonned all over the place when people got sick of them, some with the keys in them.

Okay, aside from those two ‘reporters’ telling us that they have both lived / visited the region, what’s the value to this report? We have eyes. This happened before, no? About a year ago. Not as intense, but this wasn’t a one off event. Maybe, instead of building massive skyscrapers how about creating drainage canals? Mind you, wasn’t the Burj Khalifa built with no sewer system?😏
