Had that happen to me on a historic church once, old time metal siding, got that orange coming out of every crack on siding all the way down, only thing I had on truck was f9 barq and it done the trick. A little tip for you is go buy one of those battery powered sprayers. You can screw the bottle of rust aid or f9 barq on to bottom of it and spray your chem 2 almost 3 stories and will save your forearm on those bigger jobs. Comes in quick and handy for touch up
@toddfinn58232 ай бұрын
That sprayer I have is a Pro Tool chem sprayer, has to rechargeable batteries and about 15 to 20 differant attachments. Gave 220 for it but we'll worth the money, it's made the money back 100x

Great video. Ive had this happen before and rust aid or aluminum brightener fixes it every time. I always thought it was iron deposits in the water that sticks to the vinyl windows that are so worn out its absorbs it like a sponge and sh makes it visible . The handful of times it happened to me I was hooked up to well water.

We've had customers with lots of iron in their water, once you applied SH to the house it would flash off and have rust marks all over. Acid always did the trick for us as well.

Joe - Great tip brother! I will surely buy some Rust Aid (or similar) since I've experienced this unexpected oxidation horror first hand. BTW - Austin Davis just gave you huge props for being one of his gurus. Also... Wondering who makes your skids? Doesn't look like Cody at SE or Brian from All Clean in Virginia. Who's your go-to source for skids if you don't mind sharing? I've been power washing out of a vans for years in PA but want to move on up to a proper skid on a solid 3/4 ton super duty truck. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Lastly... that super pump is mind blowing - makes stucco work look easy. Best to you & for your team. Steve D, PA

Was this house on a well? Every time I've seen this it was iron in the water that seems to be drawn out by the SH. The siding usually hides it better than the white window frames can. Downstreamed oxalic to fix every time and then drained the tank. Could always see the brownish colour to the water when draining.

Type in: “vinyl siding turned orange“ and you will run down a rabbit hole… Dozens online forums. Nobody actually seems to know what the heck causes it. Some people say this, some people say that. I had this happen on a building last year. White vinyl. Really old siding. And it turned the whole building orange two times over! I had to buy 4 gallons of rust aid. I fixed it once… And it actually turned orange within two weeks. And I had to go back and fix it again😮 it’s odd, cause I never had it happen before. And this was done in the fall when everything was pretty cold. And I was only using 1.5% 😊

Joe the theory I have on this topic is that it’s a malfunction in the sh percentage dial. I think it’s spitting out a higher ratio than intended. I could be wrong though.
@powerfulimprovements2 ай бұрын
What is this dial you speak of?
@mikebeech9422 ай бұрын
A company I worked for when I was younger had a soft wash system, you could dial in the percentage of sh according to job. I’m sure you have a more advanced system, but I was always skeptical it was giving accurate sh percentage.

I had this last week on old white painted wood! First time it happened, but I knew exactly what it was and it went away with F9 Barc. Still curious as to what causes it!? It happened to wood and window trim on only certain sections, but the north side only.
@FSEC5062 ай бұрын
I did an old farmhouse last week. Same thing on wooden window frames with very old white paint. I'm not sure why only the window frames seemed to start collecting iron, but downstreamed oxalic to get rid of it.
@simplycleanpressurewashing7582 ай бұрын
Usually, believe it or not, give it a couple days with some sun and it goes away without touching it. I see around here and I just wash as usual and never had a problem, I’ll tell the customer it will go away….never had a call back. It’s only with a]certain older vinyl windows that do it….like in the 90’s from what I gather around my area. Rust aid works too….

It is sooooooo much cheaper to mix oxalic acid bulk ordered with water and keep in A pump up sprayer. Order 10lbs powder online will last me all season vs a rust aid 16 per gallon. Can mix a gallon for Pennie’s with oxalic acid powder.
