Stumbled onto this video suggested on another I was watching. We have a similar build. There toward the end, you stood up straight in the boat, hiked your shorts up in the back, the proceeded to wrangle your catch. Had to show my wife.....looked just like me (minus a big ole beard) before any task I do 🤣. Had to sub for sure after that. Looks like you and your little lady had a fine time. Looking forward to watching your other content. May your lines be forever tight.

We just use the tree limbs. Limb lines is a term we use outhere in Texas for this kind of fishing. Them big ones love them gizard shad!

Serious fishing is done with bank poles. I grew up bank poling in central Illinois. If you are serious about wanting to catch something to eat, it is the way to do it. Never tried pvc. One thing odd here, though... We always put the bait closer to the shore than you and almost exclusively caught channel cat. Dad always taught me the channels feed along the shore but most others don't and that is why, but Dad was no biologist, yet we almost always got channels on bank poles. We usually found a nice patch of willow trees for our poles unless my uncle was with us since he had some permanent ones he made from fiberglas rod. Some ice in the water in your bait cooler would keep them alive longer.

Thanks sputnut.Yeah easy way to put food on the table.I grew up using willow, maple the PVC stows away in the boat and at home better just a grab and go kinda thing. I alwys use ice, freeze milk jugs with river water in em. Some times in the middle of summer theirs nothing you can do.SeeYa.

I am damn impressed by the idea of using pvc pipe, especially in those concrete piles. All we ever used was cane for our bank poles, but this is WAY BETTER. I am surprised you don’t use a net though.

Years ago i lived in yankton south Dakota. I used to fish the Missouri river. A souix indian showed me a steak line with a old 5 inch bike innertube. And 20 foot line after it a hook was placed 2 feet apart. He used chicken livers left outside for a few days. Off the sandbars at night i learned of flat blue and channel catfish. Garr paddel and carp! I wounder if the old bar lazy Ds is still open in Nebraska?

Sorry Johnny, I just found this video on YT. I know it's older but I could not stop myself from saying: all the fish you caught, good job, but they look hungry. I catch flatheads here in Missouri and wonder why they bite. They are fat. My biggest cat caught on chicken breast..... 31 lbs
@johnnyfish6051
@johnnyfish6051 3 жыл бұрын
Well, those were small flatties but I say very healthy. But yeah always looking for some bigger fatter fish. I Know what you mean some time you see so many shad in the water you wonder what the odds are there gona take your bait. Thanks for watching Hallowed Soul.
