The FDNY Fleet Services Fuel Truck is a 2017 Ford F-550.. It's assigned to 2 Light Duty Firefighters each tour and they will respond on 3rd Alarms & Special Calls Citywide. The Main purpose of this rig is when units are committed at a scene and are low on fuel this truck will give them that fuel. 6-10 Light Duty personnel work in the storage building where they keep FSD, Spare Engines, Ladders, Tillers, Tower Ladders, Satellite, HMTU 2nd Piece, Thawing Unit, Emergency Crew Units, Field Com, TSU and other rigs. There job is to bring spare rigs to firehouses throughout the city when they breakdown or when they have to take them to the shops for maintenance and oil changes. They work in groups of two.
This rig has a 250 Gallon Diesel Tank with (2) 150 Reels with Nozzles on them. It also has (2) Diesel Fuel Caddys that have about 26 gallons to be wheeled to areas the truck can’t reach with the reels. All the Portable Furl Tank (Caddy) needs is a 12V power usually can use the apparatus battery to the transfer pump and auto fueling nozzle.
Average calls is about 150 a year
