I thought the same until about 2000. Quite frankly I thought he went to crap once he started putting on crazy size. His craziest feature was his arms were almost the same size as his waist and that monster V-Taper he had. Just look at his deadlift video from 1994.

this is why i always tell ppl Ronnie is NOT the best ever in 98 at his best Ronnie BARELY beat a slightly off Wheeler in 93 Dorian totally dismantled Wheeler in all poses and all rounds, to the extent he only was called out for a comparison ONCE And Wheeler was sharper in 93 than in 98 and STILL he got schooled Also, in the aftermath of the 93 Olympia EVERYONE said Yates had just taken it to another level, was something never seen before, that size and condition. Well NO ONE said after Ronnies 98 win that it was something never seen before. Ronnie was only praised for taking it to another level after the 2003 mr O, NOT the 98 one. Also, lets look at the phisiques themselves Dorian in 93 had practically no real weakness-even his arms looked good that year, midsection was tight and defined and was complete and balanced overall-his back wasnt overpowering the rest of him until say 96-97 Conversely, Ronnie in 98 had gyno, weak calves and although his waist was small it was hardly a strong point because he abs shape and definition wise sucked. Also, his presentation wasnt a strong point.While Yates although not graceful was a great technical poser. Odds are if they meet in real life the best Dorian will beat the best Ronnie.

@TheLusianPopa all good points, but I never liked Dorian's biceps. Even before the tear. He was incredible and I saw him guest posing before he won in 92. He was freaking huge, but I was more impressed with Ronnie. I also met him after his first win in early 1999....if Flex Wheeler was a little bit wider and wasn't holding water in his hamstrings then he may have won in 1998. For me, Ronnie Coleman was the best ever. Size, incredible detail and just great muscle thickness....

@@wildmike951 most ppl dont like Dorians phisique but the judges loved it Ronnie was more impressive visually due to the roundness and freakyness but that doesnt necessarily mean he'd beat Yates on stage The fact of the matter is , Ronnie during his 8 year reign, NEVER faced someone like a prime Dorian. He beat an off syntholed Wheelr twice, he beat a legless Levrone a few times and Cutler But cutler, for all hsi attributes, didnt have dorians insane condition, back poses...and really ronnie beat jay ONLY because of the 2 back poses, from the front and side they were neck and neck always. So while most would say Ronnie, theres no factual proof hed beat Yates. Ronnie simply never faced someone that could legitimately match/beat him in back poses and outcondition him.

@TheLusianPopa all good points. Yates changed the sport. But I feel for my taste Ronnie and Jay were both better than Dorian just because of shape, muscle flow and size. All Great champions. Actually when Jay did the quad stomp in 2009, he looked fucking incredible. Probably the best bodybuilding photo ever. Fucking huge with serious cross striations in his quads...people forget how great Jay was. Not only did he win 4 Mr.O titles but he was 2nd place 6 times.

@@wildmike951 Jay was hardly a shapely guy...and he hardly flowed. He had a much worse structure than Dorian-shorter, w a long torso and wide waist which made him blocky in a lot of poses.And size? Ronnie 98 was 247 lb, Jay 2009 was 254 lb, Yates in 93 was 257 ...sizewise they were extremely similar.But Yates was clearly harder than Ron or Jay and was the best at presenting his phisique. No one forgets about Jay , but he was a noticeable step down after Ronnie and Yates. He had great size but didnt have inhuman level of condition, back poses were hohum and like i said his structure was that of a powerlifter. He won 4 mr Os, but 2007 most say should have gone to Victor, and in 2010 alot of folk said Heath could have won.Mnay say he didnt desevre all hsi Arnolds also, especially the last one in 2004 was a gift.

Ya I want to believe that but I don’t for some reason. he did get bigger and bigger but I really want to know what show he started juicing at bc he looked jacked even in early and mid 90s. I mean natural competitions are there for a reason. It’s bc they can’t even come close to drugs even with great genes. We all know these guys have great genes but to turn pro without drugs I honestly don’t believe. If you have all these guys with great genetics and work ethic and they take drugs there is simply no way your body can achieve those heights even with genes and hard work. It’s impossible for the both to use the amounts of food they ate. What really sucks is you don’t want to call people liars but it would be kick ass if they were all truthful.

Flex had a shitty work ethic. He talks about how Ronnie out trained him every day. Flex partied, Ronnie trained hard. Flex has a myostatin gene defect that allows him to easily put on muscle. He took advantage of that by not training hard. It cost him. Ronnie said if Flex trained like him, Flex would take him. Then the obvious calf implants and the bloated oily triceps ruined his physique symmetry and quality.
