My wife and I had no idea what it was but it was new on Netflix and we were looking for something light for a Saturday night. Now we're both telling everyone we know to watch it. I have no idea how Netflix failed to advertise this enough but this is the best thing on the service in a long time, and we just binged Shadow and Bone and loved that too.

As much as I would have loved for this to be in theatres I’m sort of thankful it came out on streaming so i could appreciate all the little details better If you pause fast enough you can read pretty much all the flaws Pal lists on the Mitchel’s and you should really take the time to read them all they’re hilarious

What really sticks out to me is at 9:52 when the robots start scanning their flaws, and it points out important aspects of their personalities, like how Rick cannot accept that Katie is her own unique person and not just a mirror image of himself, Linda always compares herself to other moms on social media, Aaron is antisocial and freaks out talking to girls, and Katie is neurotic, self-deprecating to mask her insecurities, and has unresolved emotions.

Two things I learned from this movie: 1. They reside in Kentwood, Michigan, which is a suburb of Grand Rapids, a city about a hour west of Detroit. 2. THIS IS THE MOVIE OF THE YEAR BY FAR.

Well, there was one reference you missed. If you saw the Terminator movies, you know the plot: a advanced super computer says to its fellow machines, “screw humanity. We’re going to make our society.” And the machines take over earth and there is an underground resistance who fights back. When the robots deployed by PAL are sent over earth, it’s reminiscent of the Terminator movies where machines take over earth.

Not sure if anybody stated this, but... The scene of where the tech comes to life, reminds me of G-Force (Hamsters that save the world from appliances that have a special chip in them becoming danger killing robots) It is very cool of how many Easter eggs there are :) Plus when they entered the mall, and the music (mostly background) played, it felt like the Portal (or Portal 2) atmosphere. Entering a mysterious location expecting something to happen while there is a specific music playing in the background (don't know how to describe it :) ) There might be even more that I forgot to list... (I will edit the comment, when I will remember it)

PLEASE READ: What I think you missed is that the time for everyone in the movie is different that ours.When the robot was giving the brief safety presentation,he says “capturing the fleshling sense 2020”. Which means they live in the future and Pal had been planning the takeover way before Mark threw her away.And she only took what Mike did to her hardly beacause he called her part of the Pal Labs “Family”.

There was a big reference to The Lord Of The Rings When their parents are captured and they fled the robot city, showing the tower with the red on top(mordor) and on the next scene when they are being chased on the woods like the Nasghul did to frodo and his friends.

Great film. So funny I had to pause and rewind several times because I was laughing so hard I missed stuff. Netflix really should have been advertising this more. Here is one I know is a film reference but I'm not sure to what. When mom goes super ninja there's a few seconds of music. I think it might be from Kill Bill but I could not find it and Kill Bill lifted music from other films. So where is that from?

Omfg i just rewatched the end of the movie when she said the reveal of Katie's girlfriend at the end of the movie, and it does! The mom quickly says "Are you and jade offical and coming home for Thanksgiving dinner!?" I LITTERLY DIED because I'm lesbian and i really appreciate it 😂
