Idle is the only group I stan! Can´t say I was at their very beginning but I´m a fan since early 2019 and I can´t express how proud I am to have followed them for long. Their self-producing skills is what must´ve had the biggest impact on me because I´m not the biggest kpop listener but Idle´s music, while usually varying in genre and concepts, has an own IDENTITY I feel like. Gidle has 3 producers! The leader, Soyeon (the one in this video) is the main one, but Yuqi (ur bias) and Minnie (the one counting) also produce music! For their last come back they recorded bts for ALL the songs on the albulm so thats a good way to see how their processes differ from each other!

Soyeon is the ultimate creative mastermind - music, lyrics, direction, concept, even styling suggestions.. her vision is just amazing for someone so young! My understanding is that Soyeon and the members have been self produced since debut, with Minnie and Yuqi also producing. With Yuqi’s name, the closest way to write it phonetically would be Ügi. (with a soft ‘g’), which is Korean pronunciation. I think in China her name would be pronounced “You-chee” but I think she goes with the Korean pronunciation. Name aside, she’s a total hoot - such a great, fun loving personality offstage 😊

It's worth saying that Shuhua is Taiwanese, and she's always had a little difficulty pronouncing Korean, so it's common to see Soyeon helping her with this part! But she has improved a lot since the beginning of the group, today her pronunciation is almost perfect, except for some details as you can see in the video.

Soyeon, Minnie and Yuqi is the one who made the songs in the albums, in “2”, Super lady and date is made by Soyeon, Doll and Rollie is made by Yuqi, 7Days and Vision is made by Minnie, and the lyrics of Vision is written by Miyeon

As an OT6 fan of (G)I-DLE, and seeing my bias leave, I'm still always proud of them no matter what! These 5 queens are slaying it better and better and Soyeon's visions are just at an intense level. She's not just coaching her group but also evolving them even further. Minnie started producing/writing some of their B-sides since their 2nd album. Yuqi also started producing/writing during their hit solo I'm the trend, as well as producing their chinese version for Hwaa. This current comeback, Miyeon started writing! Shuhua has improved SO much. I'm so proud of them! I also love the fact that Soyeon also started giving different parts to different members, like giving their main vocalist (Miyeon) actual rap parts (like she did for Wife) while Soyeon herself takes the high vocals/belting lines (like in this song intro.) Also, their names: Soyeon (exective producer), Minnie & Yuqi (producers/ Yuqi is pronounced like Yuchi in the chinese way but the korean way would be Woogi/Oogi), Miyeon, and lastly Shuhua (pronounced like Shuha.) Hope this helps with pronouncing their names!

The backstory of Soyeon’s producing was when G idle were going to debut, they weren’t happy with the songs. I'm fairly new to kpop but I do know that (G) I-DLE and Stray Kids both write and produce most if not all their songs. But fun fact about (G) I-DLE. They were handed the songs that they were gonna debut with but they didn't feel that it really represented who they were. So the group pressed Cube entertainment to let them debut with a song written by Soyeon herself. Cube fought back but eventually caved after the other members supported her fully ❤

Soyeon's biggest beef is always pronunciation. She will run it over and over until she has what she eenvisions for the track right. And she understands the member's strengths and capabilities well enough to give tyhem parts that shine their talents, and give the group strength. She's our Producer Queen. =)

Soyeon is actually the executive producer of the team, general producer for the team's album creative director for team MV filming. Singer, dancer (who used to be a street dancer), rapper, choreographer, vocal director, lyricist, composer, main producer, arranger, demo singer and mentor. Soyeon also wanted to learn more about the role of stage director since she wanted to become a stage director.

Yeah.. for real.. Soyeon does the job of a Vocal Director besides being the Producer during the recordings. Crazy thing is in 2016 she participated of a reality competition called "Unpretty Rapstar", and back then she was in high school while being a trainee in Cube and running on the show as a rapper against real (underground) rappers... doing all kinds of free styles, cyphers and performances. She's 25 now and when (G)Idle debuted, she was only 19 and she wrote and produced their debut song. After that, she wrote and produced all of their title songs. Since 'Tomboy' she was officially made the Executive Producer of the group by their company and that's why she always had so much input on their producing.. she literally built the group from the ground. Soyeon was always so in charge of Idle that ven when they were trainees, she took the decision of getting different vocal coaches for each of them so they could maintain their different vocal colors. She's indeed a born talent a visionary artist. She's not called a genius producer by Koreans for nothing.

She’s already been a mentor on a show called My Teenage Girl that debuted the group Class:Y She’s also been invited as a judge and guest mentor for other shows. They are an amazing group Soyeon really knows how to use each of the girls talents and pushes them out their comfort zone. I think the only place they fall behind is in live performances. They aren't as consistent live as they are in studio. I like Yuqi and the others but Soyeon really impresses me. Shes always under so much pressure. If Kurt Cobain was female and Korean, he'd be Soyeon.

Which is fascinating with Soyeon she knows exactly how to talk with the different members to get the best results. She is quite hands on with Yuqi and Shuhua as also seen in this recording behind. With Minnie and Miyeon she is far more detailed as she knows that both can do a lot with their voice with whatever she has pictured in her genius head.
