De Beelden Blijven ("The Images Remain"), Every time I hear this it just makes me tear up. I love it best in the Dutch. This was the theme song for a three day Dutch TV special on the lasting effects of war & conflict on children. Several Dutch WWII survivors told their stories. War Child is an organization to help children in war zones deal with their feelings and trauma.

If the emotion in Floor's voice doesn't bring tears to your eyes, you had better check for a pulse. I don't know Dutch but I think I actually prefer that version but both of them are just beautiful.

I never heard the English version before. I like both versions...the English version just makes it easier to concentrate on the song rather than reading lyrics. It's funny that the English version has subtitles too. I love hearing Floor singing in any genre...of course my favourite is when she sings with Nightwish, but everything she does is gold. Greetings from Finland & thanks for doing both versions of this beautiful song with a powerful message. One hardly ever completely recovers from any childhood trauma(s). P.S. I read a news story today about a father, who was living a double life as a drug lord, and he got shot in front of his 3-year old son. Not only did he see the murder of his father, but the first bullet also went through his head entering one ear & exiting from the jaw before hitting his father.

I liked this without the subs and then I did it again with subs. Then the English version came out.

It's interesting the English lyrics are different. It probably didn't translate as well in English, so they had to modify it to make it sound right.

Well, the automatic English subtitles to the Dutch version were not stellar. I guess you can't expect them to be. Still glad they are an option though, when there is something interesting posted in a language I don't understand.
