I think this is a long time coming. if you base your community on jobs at the prison, you make incarcerating people not about justice but money. to all those people who don't care, I hope they close the prison in your town.

Law of supply and demand. Raise the pay or continue to have unfilled jobs. And get some air conditioning. Even dog kennels have air conditioning.

Starting pay $34,000? That's it? It ain't worth your life. Remember dead men can't cash their paychecks.

@@Vincenza8907 That's the mentality that is keeping the jobs unfilled. Schooling is the least of the worries for the officers. I wouldn't even consider the job for less than $50,000 and that's for the lack of air conditioning alone.

For real. My sister works in California, she makes $123,000 a year.

@@twalrus1 I worked there and I made at least 53 grand, I was just a nursing assistant. 34,000 is a lot, do they even have a union? Its not worth it, you have to deal with the threat of being assaulted every single day.

Idle time is the devils advocate. Rehab these people. Give them hope. Not all are violent offenders.

What the..... Put air conditioning and heat in there. We all pay for it so we're is the money going? To the police retirement fund. The whole Jujustrial System is corrupt in Florida. Judge's, cop's, lawyers, ect. Whatever happened to removing qualified emunitty? Lot's of them are innocent.

They have heat. When I was doing time at fsp, the officers would put it on in the summer if we acted up that day and keep us locked in our cells. People would fall out and old man even died

We need to get these deamons out of office. Vote them out. Im confused about why the officers are in short supplies? other than their crappie pay that's going to change in 2024 .

I was a co for a year and a half. The system is broken dirty officers who were caught not being arrested, confinement cells that flood durning the rain; treatment of officers by administration. If I worked for like an hour Or 2 extra I’d be flexed off. I’ll go back if needed but I wanna be treated better and not be put in a building where it’s inhumane . I had worked in theses conditions worried that a riot would break out due to the conditions

They also switched the 12 hour shifts to 8 which is causing these 16 hour shift problems

So they're not paying them. Ok. Surprise surprise . Un airconditioned space in florida..... that inhumane for the inmates. Hell no ypu won't keep traffic. We get well above 100 degrees, above 110 some days. Heck no.

You need to be educated. The cop's use there qualified immunity so they get away there crime they used it and abuse it for there benefit. Most of the people in there are innocent that they used just to make money off of them to put towards there budget and retirement fund.

I am going back to work in the prison system simply because I want to help my community and I love the job.

Unbelievable. The only people who should be in prison, are sex offenders, drug traffickers, human traffickers and murders. The others should be put on community control or probation. And believe me, there are many people who are forced into plea deals out of fear of a harsher sentence. I know how Collier county sheriff's department operates and they are corrupt! I feel sorry for the citizens of Collier county.

No air conditioning in the prisons, and while that may be fine for inmates think of the poor guards lol. How is it fine to treat any human being like that? Why bc someone is an image they don’t deserve good treatment anymore? These schmucks running these facilities and even more so these states deserve everything coming to them.

That's a tough job to fill even in the best of circumstances and with high pay. If you could earn more pay working at Target or Wal-Mart I can see why there would be so many vacancies. I respect the prison guards who are doing the work though, really admire their commitment.

No ac.. In florida.... inhumane. J live in florida. Who can take it? Who voluntarily will??? For substance wages too? What about thos episodes stuck in there in that heat? I gave a fiend dhwo ebloves in our system despite how it is who'd saythe perosn shouldn't have done their crime then. Bit that has nothing g to do with incarceration in my state. Truth isn't relevant. Especially if you are not white.... yup. Hell no . Who would do that?

They get nurses there who are epaid well above market... and still theh get ones post discipline whose lisences hang on by a thread. Jeezus. Whether they're guy or not even this is inhumanity.

Be best to let some inmate go home when they dont have much time.
