Introducing myself and my struggles to get Cross Stitching again. Just for fun!
I would like to add the following links to Flosstubers I mentioned:
The Rocking Stitcher, / chuchavala
The wonderful project I mentioned of hers was So Many Books, So Little Time, a HAED design.
Handwork Maniac, / handworkmaniac , all of hers I have enjoyed but the one I mentioned is her Flosstube#19
and one that helped me get started, e_craftingincolorado, / @e_craftingincolorado .
When I mentioned her I said e-craftingincolorado but it's e_craftingincolorado. I just wanted to make sure I got that right :-)
My WIPs are:
The first is from a 1992 Cross Stitch and Country Crafts magazine. I found one on Etsy if you want to take a look:
www.etsy.com/listing/72026322...
and Time for Tea by Country Cottage Needleworks
These are those cute little girls I mentioned:
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...
and Hydrangea Floral by Dimensions

Hi Annette. I learned cross stitching and lace net darning from Creative Circle in Indpls in the 80s. Loved it. Have had the bug off and on since. Good story telling. Thx for the video. Brenda is the best. She blows my mind with all her stitching.

Hey Annette! My name is Annette also! 😃 Love your story about getting started at cross stitch again. I too have started stitching after 30 years! There are so many new fun things. My husband had recently ordered an iPad stand from Amazon and decided it didn’t work for his needs. I tried my magnetic board that holds patterns and it worked great!

Just found you today... I too was a creative circle girl, back in the day... I still have the jacobean sampler that I made while expecting my daughter in 1980. Still have some creative circle kits in a tote somehwhere... As well my sister and I have a least 10 years of the BH&G cross stitch and country crafts. I loved your video. Hope you make more. I live on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia and have been a sewist for over40 years. Have recently gotten back into cross stitch, blackwork, am a quilter too. and am interested in learning hardanger. Love the floss tube community. Wish I had a LNS near me... but alas, have to order online a lot... Am nearing retirement.... and am toying with opening a small LNS in my community.Love your enthuisaum Welcome ;-)

Congratulations on your first floss tube video! You did a fabulous job sharing your story of needlework before to current work today. I am interested in how you like the magnifier glasses and especially the brand and weight of them if you could share that information. I started with embroidery and crewel patterns, then cross stitch then quilting and now have come back to cross stitching with fervor!! Stitching brings such therapy to my soul.😀

I really like using the magnifying glasses! In the description box below my 3rd Flosstube I did link them to Amazon. I can't exactly remember the name right now. 🙄. I got the ones that are rechargable. They aren't too heavy for me but I've heard people say that the battery ones are heavy. I do need to adjust them every so often to keep them up on my nose right, but that's a small inconvenience for the benefit of seeing super clear! They come with 4 or 5 different magnifications, but I use the middle lens, I think it's 200. And thank you for your kind words! 🌸

I made the same pattern on the cover. I worked at a craft store and started it in 1994 after my dad died. For 4 months start I worked on it after I quit my job. Left it for awhile and started working on it here and there then in 1996 I moved. I had the bottom 5 inches of the right corner to go. Didn’t finish it until 2004. Now it’s framed and in our bedroom. I still love it as it reminds me of central California Pacific Ocean beaches.

Hi Annette, lovely to meet you and I'm a new subscriber. I wish you the very best for your channel. Your pieces look lovely 😊. I'm a 38 year old man from Wales in the UK and just love to cross stitch. I'm working on a full coverage Heaven and Earth Designs Nativity piece at the minute 28ct Lugana, 1 over 1 and am loving it. I always stitch by way of a hoop and very rarely diverge, only on the odd occasion using a Q-Snap. However, I've ordered a Quantum Frame from Omanik based in Estonia (the largest size they offer) for larger future projects. I'm looking forward to it arriving. My grandmother used to crochet and knit and she taught me the latter when I was very young although sadly, I never took it up properly. Cross stitching however is just fab. Here in the UK, the magazine I buy is called The World of Cross Stitching. It's a good magazine with some lovely patterns in each monthly issue. Lots of tips, tricks and techniques also. I keep trying to muster the courage to start a channel myself, but at the moment don't feel confident enough. This year, I'll give it serious thought though 🤞🏻 All the best to you and yours Annette. Ps: Stitching Jules is one of my favourite floss tubers as is Mary Rose of Stitch Bliss Corner who's from all the way down in Australia. Chris Xx

You are delightful! I can't wait for your next video. Your journey back to cross stitching is similar to any of us who started before the 2000"s. Linen, jobelan, lugana?? Hand dyed? Over dyed? It cost what for that??? It's a steep learning curve if you've been away for a while. Your ocean piece is stunning. I now wish I had kept all those magazines from the past.

I'm so glad I mentioned it. It's a small but great shop! They have a lovely variety of fabric, too. A place I like to eat near there is Hash House a Go Go on Sahara. If you are looking to eat at that time. 🙂. Thank you for your comment and have fun on your road trip!

Enjoyed watching your video and seeing your projects. Love the Sunbonnet Sue blocks you shared - wonderful stitching! What color red are you using? Looking forward to next time, and thanks for the stitching tip recommendation to handwork maniac #19 - gonna check it out. Also, do you remember the name of the magnifying glasses you showed? Thanks!

Hi April, I used 2 threads of DMC #321 for my little red girls. I think they are cute, too. I bought my glasses from Neatandhandy.com, but they are cheaper on Amazon, and I think the same ones. My girlfriend bought them on Amazon and they seem the same and she loves them, too. I think I added a link to them on Amazon in my video description, I'll go check. Thanks for the kind words and taking time to comment.
