On the dimensions kits I saw another floss tuber punch a hole above each colour and then use them like floss drops. That way they aren’t so long either. I tried it and really like it. I’m mostly monogamous, may switch between a couple but that’s it.

That's a good suggestion, thank you! I think I'll try that 😁 🪡🧵

❤❤😊Thank you very, very much for this tutorial. I do have the stand, but the scrolls had to stay tight. No turning. 😢 Now I can tweak the stand and make the changes. 🎉

No, I do not change my floss over to floss drops when they come in the dimensions kits already basically on floss drops. I see it as a waste of time, but everybody’s different. I’m a fairly new stitcher about one year in I still keep my floss in little plastic bags and remove it from the skein. Yes, I am pretty much a monogamous stitcher unless I get completely bored with what I’m doing that I might start a new one and do some of it and that is just enough to make me want to go back and complete the other one. I’ve only had two going at the same time so I do consider myself a monogamous stitcher..

If your looking for a wonderful lap stand I can’t recommend the Elan lap stand enough. Reasonably priced, quality made, and a work horse. I’ve had mine 3-4 years and absolutely love it. There is a flosstuber who has the best review I’ve seen. I can look for a link for her if you’re interested. Happy stitching!

You can make these frames much cheaper using pvc pipe and qsnap clamps. And you can make them any size you want. I have made adjustments to mine so I don’t have to use a pillow

Hi, I see cross stitchers starting many projects. I hesitate to do that too. I always finished a project before starting another. And I wonder if I starting many projects too... It's a tentation. What do you think about it ?

The needle size will depend on your fabric. The size I usually use is 24, or 26. Since I usually stitch on 14 or 16 count Aida cloth, those needle sizes are good. I hope that helped. 🪡🧵😊

I put all my threads on bobbins. I mark the bobbin with the symbol. If there are blended colors I put some of the threads already blended on a bobbin and write the symbol and what the blend is. This makes it easier to keep stitching.

Do use bees wax for your thread to go into needle?
@annettesneedles7 ай бұрын
No. I run the entire length of my thread through it. It takes out the winkles and helps it not get into a knot. If it does make a knot while I'm stitching, then it's easier to unknot 😉. I've had it for years and it seems to never run out! 🧵🪡🙂

Can you just use regular alcohol or does it need the potato part of the vodka?
@annettesneedles7 ай бұрын
As far as I know, the potato is what makes the starch part. A few years ago I used my dad's cheap vodka, not made with potatoes and it wasn't as nice. I hope that answers your question. Thank you for commenting 😊🪡🧵

Nice tutorial! Fortunately I can still rotary cut and prefer that, but it's always good to have options. A gentle tip (try or not), The seam allowance to go under the needle first, whether showing on top, or hidden underneath (what I call the Queen's Invisible Seam, reminiscent of the Emperor's new clothes) will not buck back if you put a pin in the middle of the seam allowance that leads the way. Just a thought. I sharpened up my piecing this way but I am a dyed in the cotton pinner.
@annettesneedles7 ай бұрын
Thank you for that tip! And I appreciate the comment. On some things I have to cut ' by hand' but it's kind of fun thinking of things to do on the machine. It's so nice to have feedback. It's been years since I taught Patchwork and talking to a computer just isn't the same! 😜😉😀🪡🧵

Annette, this is a great video ! It is a good refresher for the basics of choosing fabrics for a quilt. I don’t use an accuquilt but a friend had one and cut out a tumbler quilt in much less time than using a rotary cutter.

Very interesting frame. I’m going to see if it comes in different sizes. I too have difficulty with an unmounted scroll frame. Odd that I should because back in the day that was the frame of choice. I too have just returned to cross stitch after many years of a hiatus. It is a whole new world. I’ll look forward to see what responses you get about the scroll frame. Thank you for the review.

What brand of tensioners do you use at the sides of your Crosstitch frame? Are they nice and tight?

What I am using is called, Smart & Cool reusable magnetic cable ties. I got them on Amazon and they work really good. The magnet is very strong. I think I put a link to them in the description. If not, just search on Amazon. They are great for a lot of things!

You might be referring to my thread hugger. I get a batch of them on Amazon. They are really for controlling loose thread on a spool but work great to help control the fabric. I'll go fine their exact name for you. Thanks for commenting. 😁

It helps me to watch FlossTube and be inspired by others. If you have stitchy friends who are local, it’s also helpful to plan a get together for that purpose. Otherwise, maybe just allowing yourself to step away from it for a bit is necessary and the bug will bite you again when things in your life align better. Glad you are feeling better!
