Thank you for reminding me to check my Chatelaine kit that I have received. I put my flosses on bobbins and store them in a bobbin box. For large projects I have a dedicated box for the project, while several small projects might share one box.

I like that idea of using the bobbin box for different projects! I've got a lot of those around here. Thank you for sharing!!

Great video! I have been collecting Chat patterns but haven’t kitted any yet. I have finally decided on fabric for one of them and need to start kitting but organizing is overwhelming! Love your ideas!

Thank you! I really want to buy more of the patterns, but I am making myself wait for now. I have a tendency to want to kit patterns up as I get them, and that is going to be no good for my bank account! LOL!!

Hi Christine, Love your videos. I'm so excited to see this project come together. I'm just getting back into stitching and am amazed by the skill of you veteran stitchers. TFS the organizing. I am still in "learning mode" and this helps a lot...even for my simple projects! Smiles, Jeannie

Thank you so much, Jeannie! I'm not a veteran stitcher (I've only been stitching since 2014!), I just tend to jump into the deep end of the pool when I start stuff. And I have NO IDEA why I do that!! It's crazy! But this should be a fun project. Or interesting, at the very least!

I am going to order my first Chatelaine kit so this video was so helpful. I need to make sure I order a Pako organiser and another Tacky Bob. Thanks so much.

I am so glad it was helpful!! I usually price check both the Pako and the Tacky Bob between Overstock.com and Amazon. Mostly they are the same, and I tend to go with Amazon because of Prime shipping.

Thank you for this video. I have a Chatelaine pattern that I have had for years assuming I had all the parts. So I'm going to go check that and make sure because it is on my to do sooner rather than later list!

Thanks for sharing your organization tips! I only have one Châtelaine using the silks and I bobbinated all of them. I put all the beads in little round bead containers and the treasure braids are on a ring. My other Chatelaines are in DMC and I bought the bead pack from ECC. I leave the beads in the vials they come in and use my tacky bob for a few different beads at a time (I bead all at the end).

Thank you so much for sharing how you organize and prep your stuff! I have some of those round bead containers, so I may try those out at some point and see if that works better!

THank you for sharing your method of organization. Brilliant. I love the idea of highlighting the sheet. I have found it to be difficult at times following across to figure out if the symbol is one type of thread or another, especially if the numbers are not ones I am familiar with around it, I am taking that idea. And I am thinking of using a Pako? organizer sometime , so I like your idea there as well, Thank you

I can't remember where I saw the tip of highlighting the sheet. I'm pretty sure it was in the Chatelaine Support Group on FB, but I am not positive. I was glad when I noticed it though, it's really helping when figuring out all of the flosses!

If checking and re-checking all of the floss gives you peace of mind, it's definitely worth it. I've made SO many mistakes sorting and identifying floss from cross stitch kits...but the stakes are a bit lower with those.

I've spent way more time double, triple, and quadruple checking on this project than any other project. And that was just getting it prepped! LOL!!

I think I'm going to spend May working on my Chatelaine. Honestly, my kit was pretty small and there's not a lot of bling, but if there was I would probably organize it them same way! Well, maybe not with the Pakko. Kitty likes to eat thread and if she got into my silks she'd have to become an outdoor cat at 16 years old!

I can't wait to see you stitching on yours!! Yes, I can definitely see how kitties would love to play with those dangly flosses. Yikes!

Great video! And since this is Poison Garden they most definitely should be called vials! Part of me had a little panicked moment thinking about those Chatelaine kits that are gathering dust in my closet that I’ve never checked, but then I realized that by the time I get around to them I will probably be 103 and won’t care. I’m seriously impressed with your sticker paper trick though - brilliant.

I think vials is appropriate too! And I love that you're sticking around to 103 (plus!!) and still planning on stitching a Chatelaine!

I just bought a couple Pako organizers for a very large project I have, that has frequent color changes, so I wanted to keep needles threaded, please update us on your use of the Pako, pros and cons. Thanks

I definiteloy will!! I ordered 50 needles to use with this project, so I could just leave the floss on the needles, but I completely forgot to talk about them when I recorded this video. Oops!

That made me laugh out loud! I'm absolutely sure that you do, but wow is that a lot of work! I can see how some people say, NO THANK YOU!, to these charts! I'm sure there's going to be quite a few times where I wonder what on earth I was thinking starting this chart! Hahaha!

Thank you for such a great video!! I got some very good ideas from it. The problem I am having with mine is trying to figure out how to make that darned chart big enough to read!! So if you have any tips on THAT, I would appreciate it! Elizabeth
@StitchALLTheThings
@StitchALLTheThings 6 жыл бұрын
Hi, Elizabeth! I bought a pdf chart so I am stitching from my laptop. I don't normally do that, I like to print out a copy and highlight as I stitch, but I feel like I need to keep enlarging the chart to make sure I am seeing the right symbols. If you have a paper chart, maybe you could take it to a copy place and enlarge it there? That's the one thing about these charts, the grids are SO small! I think Martina ended up recommending people buy pdf's instead so they could enlarge it while stitching.

Well, I did buy a pdf version, but I am trying to figure out how to enlarge it and print it out so I can have the paper copy. I've been researching, and that is my mission for today - trying to get it printed out large enough to see! lol If worse comes to worse, I will have to use my iPad. Thank you for your suggestions! :)

Oh, okay! I saw a tip in the group about that. You select an area you want to stitch, and then find the "Snapshot" icon. After you click it, it should pop up some type of comment that it's been saved to the clipboard. Then you click print. When the print dialogue comes up I think you choose "Fit to Margins" and it enlarges that area to fit the sheet. I'm not sure how the resolution comes out for printing, but I think it's pretty good.
@StitchALLTheThings

I think I got it backwards. First you click Snapshot, THEN you select the area.
