I love the opener joke! Except now I'm going to be expecting one at the beginning of every video. :) Your opener to the haul cracked me up too. No haul is crap! It is all glorious! Your stand up stitching is inspiring! I might have to give that a shot. At least part of the time. I sit allllll day and I know it has to be really bad for me. I once saw a headline that said "sitting all day is as bad for you as smoking." I remember I was really pissed because I'd just quit smoking. :) Can't win! I'm stitching on dark grey at the moment. Sounds like I need to find something to stitch on black!

No such thing as "crappy" haul - it's all good :). I have a desire to start something on black and find a way to pull out my stand and adapt to standing up. It doesn't work with my couch, but it would be perfect for standing and make the large projects that much easier to do. Great idea.

Awesome video Beth. I work a job that is 12 hour shifts at a desk. Thankfully our desks are hydraulic so we can sit or press a button and they raise to whatever height we need for standing. I should use mine in standing position more then I do though. With my stitching I sit while using my floor stand but if I use my PVC lapstand I can put that on my bar height lunch counter and stitch while standing. Will have to try this more. Happy Stitching!

Hi Beth. I love you suggestion of standing while stitching. I also am in front of a computer all day and then come home and sit and stitch. I also have the same stand as you do so I gave it a try. I need to find something the right height to set it on so I can see with my glasses. My old eyes just need lots of help so when I get that worked out I will give it a go again. No "lame" haul - all haul is wonderful!

Oh, how about the Society of Standing Stitchers (SSS or S ^3)!!! I have stitched while standing myself after going through the same thought process! I don't have a stand but I have a high counter that I can rest my elbows on while stitching. I sit just like you with a leg tucked under and my PT gave me the lecture about it.... oops! I'm not eligible for the Back in Black club at this point but maybe in the future 😎

I like your intro :) I am not at a desk job anymore but I still find that I sit a good part of the day. Even though I do get up and down quite a lot I still think it would be better for me to get up off my rear more often LOL. I am going to try stitching in a standing position and see how it works for me. I have a current WIP on black belfast linen. It is very bold colors and a fun stitch. I am very interested to see the piece you are stitching for your friend.

Beth!! Great video and awesome ideas. I have circulatory issues so that standing and stitching thing sounds like it would benefit me greatly. Still working on having my fiancée and my dad build me a stand so once that's good to go I'll be seriously considering standing up and shouting....um stitching. (Sorry, Dio came to mind just then). Great comment about the boots and belt and also about the siting down stuff i work for the health service and am constantly sitting then coming home and cross stitching holding a hoop as a 49 year old this is not good. Love that Indian picture.

good luck standing. i work on my feet, so sitting is for me. does poorly dye black adia count? i'm an also work another project of black.
