Here is a basic demonstration (not a tutorial!) of how I stitch using the sewing method vs the stab method. Apologies for the wayward left thumb blocking the shot from time to time. Hope this is helpful and please feel free to ask questions in the comments section. =)

This is my preferred way to stitch, it's all about rocking the needle and I do stab when needed.

Lol! Funny intro..... Those long-haired dudes can be such slackers :). I understood what you were explaining with the sewing method as I gave it a go a few weeks ago, myself. I didn't last very long with it because my fabric was really stuff but I will try it again sometime. Happy Stitching!

+Calico Yeah, longhairs are a little too mellow sometimes, but I had to give it a shot. =) Keep trying with the sewing technique. It took me several false starts to finally find a fabric and a project that worked. Good luck!

I use the sewing method over clear areas and use the stab method when filling in spaces next to stitches, where you can’t flex the fabric where it is already stitched. Sewing in hand is the best, I find.

I really enjoyed your video. Maybe if you give Jack a second chance??? Thank you for your demonstration of the sewing method. I am using that method on my temperature sampler and sort of thought I was cheating not stabbing. Thank you for legitimizing the method. Happy stitching and again, give that little guy another chance!

I enjoyed this video, however, I couldn't quite see what you were doing. do you mean you go from bottom left to top right and then at the same time go to bottom right?

+AmyM121 That's right. You put the the needle into the top right hole to complete the bottom leg, and at the same time, bring the tip of the needle up through the bottom right hole to start the top leg of the stitch, or to do the bottom leg of the next stitch to the right on the same row.

ohh great video so relaxing and entertaining. Personally, I was taught crosstitching with the sewing method and I understand the struggle I am a right handed stitcher too and sometimes the needlepoint comes out on the wrong way! hehe

Fun video, never employ cat's, far too crafty 😀 Always interesting to see how people stitch. Many of us are self taught, so it's great to see if there is a better way
