Today we start with a nice walk around the National Cathedral and then a bike ride down into the downtown. We take a look at the GWU protests (again) and then off to the White House where we are whisked through a departure for Delaware.

Ole Foggy Bottom is off to Delaware 😃 As he doesn't seem to mind the protests, he should offer up some grass space at the WH. Great tour of the festival and the Embassies, it looked like a beautiful day for it. Enjoy some time off P6, see ya next time 🍻

Why do you want Biden to violate the law to remove these protesters? Right now it is up to George Washington University, a private institution, to decide how they want to deal with the trespassers. Unless they ask the police to remove them there is very little legally that the police can actually do.

I went to the Embassy Open House one year. I had a passport or a map and I got it stamped. (I am a big kid). It was fun and the inside architecture was beautiful in some of them. I selfishly like it when you walk; I flinch less! LOL! Thank you for a fun tour. Has the statue of George Washington been defaced at GW? It looked like there were white patches on it. At one point, one of the news outlets said it had been defaced, but it had been "dressed" up with the scarf and flag. Stuff that could be removed without damaging the statue.

Now that's the place to ve. Plants, flowers, food and other fun things. Did not know the Vatican had embasses. The embassies & homes are fancanting. Love, love, love watching the precise steps and turns of the Marine opening & closings the steps. Hurrah for the "statement". Finally!!!

P6, maybe you can show the national cathedral and crypts underneath. Went there on a class trip 8th grade in 1975 from WV. Someone got into their dad's stash of airplane bottles of booze. On the bus going there, we realized that once we cracked open the jack daniels, the chaperones were on us from the smell. Oh well, live and learn, should have brought vodka instead because they separated Colleen and I.😮 Still had a great time however, went to a breakfast buffet in the morning and they were frying eggs in a vat of oil like french fries. Never seen anything like that since. Is that a DC thing?

This Monday is Holocaust Remembrance Day. Will you be going to the Holocaust Museum. I hope these non peaceful protestors don't destroy the horrible memory of what happened then.

I am a historian of the Holocaust and wonder how many of the 'protestors' even know of the events leading up to WW2 and the Nazi's perfusion of the Jewish population. Terrible time to be a Jew in post and war time in Germany and many other countries. I'd show them some of the many, many videos of the stories told by the few survivors, God help us if it ever happens again. Love your travels around DC. When younger I walked along embassy row and the side streets quite a few times, very interesting. stayed in a hotel in or near Rock-creek park, probably long gone now. Could walk to the zoo to see the panda's.

Hey P6, The King Tut exhibit is in DC. Not sure where. President Biden awarded 19 people w the Medal of Freedom today. I was sure he would be late. The flag was huge. Protests are continuing across the country and across the globe. I hope they remain peaceful. Thanks for the tour. I would have to stay away from the flowers. $$$ They were beautiful. See you soon. There were a whole slew of "migrants" claiming to be from Chad. They were crossing into TX & AZ back 4-5 months ago. Only young men in groups of 2 or 3. They seemed to be very healthy specimens of humanity.

Because that’s what an embassy is. Countries have them in the capital cities of other countries. It’s an ancient practice. Penguin was walking through “Embassy Row,” where most nations have their embassies in DC.

I wonder who pays for the upkeep of these embassies. Some are extra large. Also who pays for US embassies in other countries?

Each country pays for their own embassy, so the British pay for the British embassy in the USA, the British embassy in Germany, the British embassy in France, etc. The US pays for our embassies in London, Paris, Berlin etc. As for exterior security (i.e. the sidewalks) that is the responsibly of the host country, so the US pays the policemen on the sidewalk outside of the British embassy, and in London the UK government pays for the police outside the American embassy.
