The de la Hoya fight didn’t look “easy”. It was the only split decision of Mayweathers career. Also, it was not a prime de la Hoya, like the one Cahavez faced. The main thing here was that Julio Cesar Chavez didn't pay to his adversaries, those were fights with no extra interests, you can get a 500-0 record when you pay to your adversaries. prime JCC vs prime MW, no doubt JCC hands MW his ass on a plate.
@arturomanjarrez6469
@arturomanjarrez6469 2 жыл бұрын
As far as Julio was concerned, I challenge Mayweather to get to 87 pro fights (undefeated) and then go up to a weight class he’d never fought in before and attempt to beat one of the best pure boxers the world has seen. See? Well at least he challenged himself. He tried. Chavez was great, my favorite, but his best weight classes were 130lbs, 135lbs, and 140lbs. Anything above that especially with 87 professional at the time it was not made to be. But if Castillo at 135lbs BEAT Mayweather clearly in their 1st fight Can you Imagine what a prime Chavez would have done to Pretty Boy at 135?!! Look up Chavez vs Rosario at 135. Ask Roger Mayweather if he would have beaten his nephew.

Huh? Floyd won titles at 30, 35, and 40, but didn't stop there. Dude also got belts at 47 and 54. Also, JC's 87 and 0 included 19 non-title bouts (after winning his first title) which were basically sparring sessions that went on his record. And of course, the 87 and 0 included a loss to Pernell Whitaker - who was basically the exact same fighter as Floyd.

Semi-retired De La Hoya beat Mayweather and he's trying to say it was an easy fight. When he says he's "smarter" it may have to do with his boxing as a promoter and getting suspiciously friendly scores from judges. Floyd was already in the best amateur program in the world at 15. Mexico does not have an amateur program like the us does. Floyd had already been in the olympics at a very young age canelo had to brute force his way through, canelo had to work as a child to get money to survive, Mexico is not like the US were your parents can apply for food stamps ebt etc, if you’re lucky you will eat Two meals a day if not only one and the most poor half of one, Floyd had all the IQ and the experience in the world compared to Canelo at 23, those are straight facts, its more difficult for people that live in 3rd world countries to come up, then you got all the foodstamp Living dummies saying that the government does not care for them when they live off the government, and they still have iphones, jordans, ps5s xboxes lol

@@frankzapata24 False. The perception of the Castillo fight changed over time because of Floyd never losing. Floyd didn't do anything special to beat Oscar. He just kept the fight close then out boxed him once he tired. De La Hoya didn't make Floyd work. Floyd's gameplan was literally keep the fight close early then take over in the second half. That's exactly what he did. That's why he feels Oscar was easy. Oscar never made him deviate from his gameplan.

He takes so much credit for fighting an old out of his moment Oscar when he was at his prime. If anyone deserves props it’s De La Hoya for taking on the challenge when the odds are not on his side. That’s what’s impressive, to go into battle and take a high risk for a high reward and glory. Imagine if he pulled it off? Every one would’ve been thrilled. Instead he lost a very close decision and some say he even won that fight. That’s what true champions do. They take the best challenge available. Mayweather? Hmmm.. waits you out, makes sure his opponents are out of their moments. If you don’t think so, just look at who he ended his career with at the end of his 50th fight. Andre Berto?! At that point he’d lost 3 of his last 5 fights. What a way to end on a high note. Oscar faces top dog at the end (Money May) and money may ends with Berto, jeesh!!! Does that sound like TBE?!!! Who were the top fighters at the time? Danny Garcia, Spence Jr, heck even a rematch with a healthy Paquiao would’ve been more respectable.

Mayweather is just years younger than Oscar yet Oscar was out of his prime. It's funny how all other fighters have excuses for being out of their prime except Mayweather. @@BernardBrunu1 Get your facts straight, no fighter ever said they were out of their primes and used it as an excuse. It's the fans who uses it as an excuse, and please don't act like being out of prime actually isn't a valid excuse-you try being a professional athlete at your mid and/or late 30s, let alone a Professional Boxer. Mayweather didn't make excuses because he never lost(officially), if he were to lose the the fights he had past...let's say...34? You can bet your ass everyone would be mentioning his age. Seriously, I do not understand your reasoning here, what excuse would he need if he beat Canelo and was a few fights away from retiring. In the first place, no fighter goes 'This is my last few fights, sorry If I lose'. Edit: One last thing, the biggest fallacy here, is you thinking Floyd was out of his prime during his late 30s. He's not, mind you, prime is not just age in Boxing, but how good you are as a Fighter. Floyd was less athletic, but was still efficient and deadly as ever.
