I always trust a guy who wears suspenders, the same way I do. That's a man who knows how to 'git 'er done'. Great tutorial video. Thanks.

Great video Scot. You can always attach a roof anchor to the very peak of your roof so you always have a connection point. You can use that anchor point for different purposes around in on top of your roof. Even if you're using a ladder to work on your eaves if you use a system like Scott you have to make sure your rope diameter is correct. Not all rope is equal. Safety is not always cool it is necessary.

I like that chimney kit. They work well. I have something similar for a dryer vent. I felt for you when the cap fell off the roof. Bummer!

I've been burning the wood as my sole source of heat for the last 40 years. My wood stove burns 24 hours a day 7 days a week for at least 8 months a year. I use a wire brush type brush for my 6" pipe My fiberglass rods are 5' in length and they thread together. I have to clean my pipe every 2-3 months. I unfortunately Have to ream my pipe out from the bottom up. It's no joke you have to keep up on it 1 of my neighbors burn their house to the ground month ago

Good video. Living off-grid in Canada, I agree with your comments. Where we live all we burn is Pine and Fir. I clean our chimney each spring and each spring our creosote is pretty minimal. Using good dry seasoned wood and running a hot fire is key. :)

Make sure the stove pipe is oriented male end down. I have to say it because to some people that is not common sense.

Great video!. You should extend ladder at least 3 feet above roof edge, so you can hold on while getting off or on. Also, someone around in case you fall.

Like everything else... it's impossible to get the chimney sweep to come out! I've been on a waiting list for 2 years now. I finally just did it myself. BTW... you can pick up safety ropes/equipment used for rock climbing super cheep.

Can you post the link for your kit you are using? Since we're weekenders we've never had enough build up over the years to clean. But now that we're coming up on year for I think we definitely need to get it done.

I had just hit public from private and clicked SAVE... It was only like 3 sec! So funny. I guess that makes you a superfan!! HA!
