The 87v is in the top 5 DMM's of all time. I believe those test leads have a safety feature, there is a yellow coating that shows if there is a tear or crack. Nice video, keep it up!

I like being prepared for just about anything, I’m sure you know what I mean. But you’re correct the FLUKE 87V is built like a nuclear fallout shelter SOLID AS A ROCK. Thanks again for your input I enjoy talking tools with you, until next time take care.

One thing i would reprimand Fluke for is the probe it comes with. They are okay but compared to what others offerings come with at this price point (smooth silicone, gold plated, comfy) the leads are just subpar. I don't have a fluke myself but a friend game me the probes from his new 87V (he had Pomonas) and they feel really close to probes you getvwith 30 dollar chinese multimeters.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. I’m a little late to the party but wanted to get your thoughts on whether it’s worth getting the 87v max vs the 87v. I’m not a pro like you and your viewers. I’ve got a small farm in the PNW and will be adding new buildings/new wiring...and then there’s the typical troubleshooting of past home owner “electricians” who were kind enough to pass their problems down to me. I like the quality of Fluke, having used other multimeters in the past (117/179) and feel it’s time to step up and get one for my own. Thanks again and Happy Holidays!

Hello Al there’s not much difference between the two except the 87v Max May have one or two features more that you don’t even use . The old 87v is still a powerhouse and will supply all your needs. Keep in mind the 87v is an industrial Multimeter and if you’ll troubleshooting controllers, and circuits . . .etc 87v is your Multimeter. And if you’re considering expanding your farm with a lot of automation consider the FLUKE 289 or 287 Multimeter. I hope 🤞 this helps, take care.

I do residential electrical and automotive repairs and my old fluke 87 never failed me...oooo, be careful on that statement ( you are as good as your tools) ... sometimes your tools will not be honest with you... I make my own testers to do the reading...

Happy Thanksgiving Mr. Engineer, thank you for stopping by. Fluke test instruments have a very long track record of being superb. I’ve heard stories of the owners of Fluke test instruments damaging their unit on purpose because it wouldn’t die just to have an excuse to purchase another Fluke instrument. Now that’s only if you properly use and take care of your device. Also I stand corrected, there are times when you’re not as good as your tools if your tools are reliable. But if you purchase junk then the quality of your work will be junk... most of the time. Be safe out there Figgy.

Hi John, the screen protector was sized and installed by the FLUKE Corporation.

Thank you for the prompt reply. In that case, is it fair to say the screen protector you are using is the stock screen protective film that comes with every new Fluke meter? If so, I would like to install a more substantial protector, like those from Upscreen or Brotect. Upscreen makes one for the higher end Fluke 287/289. I have not found a factory sized screen protector for the Fluke 87V yet. Thank you for all your instructive videos.

Of course, I recently purchased a brand new FLUKE 1587 FC and the screen protector came off and no matter how much I tried to get it to stay on it wouldn’t. So I’m gonna take it to BEST BUY ( GEEK SQUAD ) to have a screen protector installed on all my most expensive meters.

I couldn’t agree more the Fluke 87V is one heck of a multimeter. And its not cheap, I purchased the one in the video over 10 years ago and it cost me almost $400 U.S. Dollars. But the 87V is only one of many excellent multimeters Fluke make. The Fluke 289 is over ten years old and I seen the price as high as $700. U.S.Dollars.

@@TheElectriciansToolChannel I also have the 87V and 289. The prices are still high, but that is ok. You get the maximum on multimeter for a low price for that quality. I only use them on my bench. For more exact measuring i use a Rohde&Schwarz HMC8012.

@TheElectriciansToolChannel
@TheElectriciansToolChannel 2 жыл бұрын
When you turn the multimeter on it automatically default to millivolt mode. Not to mention this multimeter is a very high quality instrument and very sensitive to EMF ( electrical magnetic field ) that’s near the multimeter also coming from your body that causes the instrument to fluctuate.👍🏽

Good Evening ! I was wondering if you were familiar with the megger multimeter AVO 035 and 030? Very interesting, I seen some KZfaq videos on it. Thanks, that megger is very impressive from what I read. I have the fluke 1520 insulation tester. Looking for something a little smaller. That klein et600 just may be the ticket. @@TheElectriciansToolChannel I can understand why! I own a fender telecaster guitar American made and I'm almost as proud as a real American but the multimeter for €650 is I must admit overkill for what I'm doing currently but its American made and I plan to do more advanced stuff in the future. Right now I have a brehmen235 that Is allright but the kick stand broke. I usually really take a look at everything available but for multimeters I think flukes high models might be the best choise still even though the high price. Your video was very helpful btw. Do all the Fluke meters have a beep in diode mode? Maybe a stupid question xD
@TheElectriciansToolChannel
@TheElectriciansToolChannel 3 ай бұрын
@@AA-xm7rt I’m not sure about the beep. But it’s best to have a meter with more than have a meter with not enough. I could say that if you purchase a fluke especially the higher class models it’ll last you a lifetime.

You are absolutely wrong when it comes to reading amperage, specifically low amperage such as in electronics. A clamp meter is not designed for the same level of accuracy/precision and/or resolution. I have this meter specifically for working with electronics.
@TheElectriciansToolChannel
@TheElectriciansToolChannel 3 жыл бұрын
You’re absolutely right, I wasn’t referring to making low voltage amp measurements. The point I was making is you want to use a Multimeter to measure high current inside of an electrical distribution panel or make measurements of any current 10 amp or above. I was speaking to electricians not technicians when I made that statement.

This multimeter is tested and proved to be a true BEAST in the field to this very day. It has a lot of features and 10 amps isn’t a lot because a multimeter’s amperage measurement is mainly used for electronic circuits. There aren’t any multimeters on the market being sold today that measures higher than 10 amps. If you need to measure anything more than 10 amps then I suggest you use a clamp meter ( That’s Just My Opinion ). Thanks for watching 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿💪💪💪
