36 is as short as their machine goes but I bet if the sell a bunch of them that may change.

Flukemaster yeah people have been trimming their minn kotas down to 30” but I’ll definitely settle for 36 with motorguide and no cutting. I’ll be buying when it hits the market - not available just yet it seems.

You can always adjust it shorter if need to. There's a knob on the shaft to adjust your length. 36" is just max but if you need it shorter just adjust it shorter.

All bow mount tms these days have a built in shock absorption. That little kayak will be alot easier to stop suddenly than a bass boat.

They are hard to find. They get sold as fast as they show up at the shops. Try contacting your closest paddle shop

You can rig something up to pull the fuse if you fall out. Or make sure the remote is secured on your life jacket and you should be able to stop it if it still works

No it’s a bow mount only unless you want to engineer some kind of complicated apparatus.

It takes me a little longer to strap down my paddle and the rods stage at a different angle.

@@doubletroublefishing136 I'm pretty sure with the Pinpoint GPS Gateway kit it will. I have the saltwater version xi3 and it has a nmea cable that the module connects to and then you connect it to your lowrance unit.

Better have a trailer if it covers your handle

I do notice the turbulence but it's only in the top two feet. It doesn't effect my ability to see things deeper.

I was able to use my xi3 that I cut to 34" in a foot of water after adjusting the collar. As for deploying, I just use my paddle to press the peddle then push the motor forward. I have a 4' piece of paracord that I use to keep it from slamming and also to pick it back up

The only issue will be the length of the shaft. The Jon boat requires a longer shaft.

I can tell you for sure that it holds you in a smaller circle than the MK. It has sensors that can tell that you are beginning to move off your spot. The MK doesn't respond until you are already off your spot. It's the difference between a 10 foot circle and a 20ft circle.

@ Julian B Fishing - I have the Xi3 and another feature their "Anchor mode" has that I don't think MK's Spotlock has is a jog feature. You can lock your position and with the press of a directional button, move that direction 5 feet with every button press.

Bass Thumbs Fishing did a walk through of the MotorGuide on a Bonafide if you're interested to see how it can be rigged up. Including how he ran the pulley wires to depress the deploy lever and also deploy/retrieve the motor from the seat.

My dad has the Titan 12. We added the lithium battery right behind his seat. It works better there. Too much extra weight in the front already with the Xi3

It does seem that way until I'm out in the middle of the lake fishing deep and I want to stay in one spot. It's a valuable tool to have in a lot of situations.

Fishing a shore line hands free is awesome. It changes the way you can fish coves and cover areas..

@@Flukemaster kinda figured that but it is very cool for sure especially for a an injured vet like me that has a hard time padelling or pedaling a kayak but loves to fish from one. I have been looking at the bixby or torqeeto as well.

@@Flukemaster If you remove the motor side plate on the right side, as viewed from your seat, you can see the latch release rod. I tied a simple paracord to that rod and brought it out the tiny gap above the right side of the pedal. My cord lays in the floor hanging over where you installed the power connector in the hull. I put a PVC pipe handle on it for easy grasping and for use as a pull handle. You can give the handle a light pull and it releases the latch. I also tied another paracord with PVC handle just under the head of the motor. I get that deployment cord in my left hand and lean forward as I pull the latch cable with my right hand. I use my left hand to nudge the motor head forward and it easily slips into the water as I put tension on the deployment cord in my left hand. I'm in a SS107 so I'm a tad closer to the motor but then too, my shaft is only 30" instead of 36", so we may be about the same distance from the motor head when it's laying horizontal in the cradle. I can easily deploy it from my seat like this. Docking it back in the cradle can be done too without getting out of the seat other than to lean forward to grab both cables. It's not always 100 fool proof though. Sometimes my lifting/deployment cord will get in between the power cord coils and it will make the motor want to spin out of alignment with the docking station. I think a neoprene sleeve around the power cable will stop that completely and make it a bullet proof install. I also put a zip tie on the GPS cable at both ends, tying it to the power cable. This keeps the GPS cable from oozing out either end of the power cable. Lastly, with my shaft being 30", the head of the motor pretty much sits on the depth setting guide so there's literally no extra shaft sticking up to get in the way of casting.

Nucanoe has them up on their site, but with the covid going on, it's pretty hard to get your hands on any bow mount trolling motor.

It won't be as easy as this one but someone with some creativity and building skills could figure it out.

Not one already shortened like this MotorGuide kayak edition. But if you need to go Minn Kota, you can cut down the shaft yourself. Otherwise, Old Town did design and debut a kayak with Minn Kota's SpotLock trolling motor built in. Pricey but basically turn key. And their motor unit is even saltwater ready. Look up the SPORTSMAN AUTOPILOT 120 on KZfaq or their website for more info.
