I feel the United Kingdom have the best terrestrial and Special Forces in the word. This opinion is based my experience of 20 years in the RAF and having mingled with other military members from around the world. I live in America now and I also feel British people are generally more informed and better educated. We may not be able to effect 'full spectrum dominance' or have an annual $650 billion budget to equip us, and we may also be a nation in decline, but we do have some very well trained, very effecient and highly motivated people in the British military and we should all be very proud of the British Armed Forces, especially UKSF, who, if they are not the best (because I simply don't know) are the blue print for all SF that came after them. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇺🇸🇺🇸

I'm from Newark upon Trent. I can remember the Vulcans practicing the QRA 4 minute scramble exercises seeing just 1 Vulcan is incredible. however 4 - 6 - 8 - 12 going up into the Lincolnshire sky's heading East!!! all at once !! Absolutely 💯 AWESOME to witness yes...terrifying too. knowing what they were practicing for. God bless the RAF staff of the VBCG during that cold War era. such responsibility such calm minds and nerves No Bird comes close, to the Vulcans mighty presence The HOWL

The comment about looking out for a strangely timed plane got me intrigued. I can just imagine one of them raising an alarm. "Sir! This plane looks suspicious" "What's wrong?" "It's flying on schedule, sir!" "Dear god..."

I must say those British are world leaders when it comes to tactical defence and special Ops..I've heard some amazing stories about there Pilots & special forces SAS/SBS Tactical Units..I was watching them take down the Argentinian air force in 2 weeks in 1982..Not sure any other country could of done that!! Fair play to the pilot's comments near the end of the video. I agree. In a crisis situation, proper intel and following chain of command, works better than succumbing to emotion, in the air.

As a typhoon pilot, myself who has been on QRA duty, I am proud that they have shown how we protect our skies

This is a two way game that has been ongoing for decades. Testing each other’s reaction times and letting each other know we are in our a game is an important part of peace keeping 🇬🇧

Wonderful stuff...May the UK continue to bare its teeth in no uncertain terms to all potential enemies who display arrogant impertinence by entering UK airspace uninvited and with no flight plan. Fantastic work by the RAF's QRA system.

I must admit, as much love as I have for our F-22 Raptor, there's 2 jets I love more. Not based on performance but just all around awesomeness, and that's the RAF's Eurofighter Typoon, and the FAF's Dassault Mirage 2000. For as good as the Raptor is, I feel like personally that the Typoon and Mirage are equally as good and aren't given the credit they deserve.

They don't want them to tell use their surname's. Should of though about that when filming the aircraft. Each Squadron Leader has their name on the side of their aircraft...

I used to be based at RAF Neatishead before it closed in 2004. When the QRA were called upon it was incredibly busy down there. It's good to see some familiar faces from my time as well.

At 2:48 if I’m not mistaken that’s Flight Lieutenant Jon Bond, currently serving as Red 6 in the Red Arrows

The guy at 20.28 was on a recent documentary following the Red Arrows. He had just joined the Reds & was undergoing his formation training. Must of been a strange experience leaving the Typhoon & climbing back in to the Hawk. Probably felt like he was back at Valley.

Isn't this what all patriotic Brits should have more awareness of? Hats off to all our brave RAF pilots especially the quick reaction alert boys who might have to face live combat any time.

Brings back memories when I was on QRA (battle flight) at RAF Gutersloh in Germany back in the 70s with Lightnings. Can be exciting at times but mostly boring sitting around.

I was an aircraft mechanic on mach two fighter interceptors, that's 1600 MPH, in the USAF. Our mission was to intercept nuclear armed Russian bombers.& when scrambled we were timed, & every second counted! This video brought back memories! Thanks!

Interesting to see the UK's version. I live in Switzerland and work on AF base with quick reaction capabilities, where a lot of F-18s are stationed. We get these kinds of alerts every other day.

My dad was ln SAC during the cuban missle crisis. 12 B52s took off from Fairchild and where refuelled in air for hours . To say he was stressed would be an understatement. My mom and me where evacuated to the mountains in idaho with a box of 3 day rations and a gallon jug each of water. Dad told me a few years ago how close we came to WW3. It was only because comms between ussr and DC were so slow it gave both sides time to think. Not like that today. Stay safe.

My favourite 2 planes are both used in British forces (RAF/Navy) - Eurofighter Typhoon and the Panavia Tornado - beautiful European machines.

I love how they get more aircraft ready as soon as any are deployed, just in case they need to deploy more. It reminded me of when I accidentally disturbed a bumblebee nest. I didn't realise until I was surrounded by agitated bees, circling me. Then I noticed a mouse hole or similar in the ground, with more bees coming out of it. As soon as I realised I'd accidentally entered their territory, I backed away, and the bees settled down and dispersed. This video was pretty much exactly that same drill.
