Recently we took flew Qanrtas' QF9 service from Perth to London in Economy. We boarded the flight with questions like, would we survive? Did Phil have an empty seat next to him, or would it be a cosy trip with a new friend? Would we sleep or get bored being on a plane for over 17 hours?
Thankfully our experience was all positive. We were very grateful for the empty seat allowing us more room and the ability to move and get comfortable.
The crew were all lovely, and we did not have any problems with them. Meal service was pleasant, and the food economy edible. We got more sleep than we expected, but I guess flying the whole time in darkness probably helps with that.
We started our flight in the Qantas Business Lounge. This was thanks to Phil's Status in the Qantas Frequent Flyer program. We then boarded the Qantas Boeing 787-9 Economy Class
We Went on One of the longest flights in the world, and yes, we survived.

I’ve flown UA1 and UA2, which is 17 hours to and from San Francisco to Singapore. Idk how you felt on this flight, but at around hour 8 or 9, time just stopped existing, and at some point, we landed. It was for sure worth it. Faster and less hassle than switching planes somewhere in Asia or Europe (I originated in Chicago).

Your words imply you are living somewhere other than Australia? if you do make it, can I invite you (most keenly) to try to include Perth in your itinerary, the logic being that Perths latitude transposed the northern hemisphere would align with Marrakesh in Morocco, so the weather here is truly fantastic, and we have the only warm water ocean current in the southern hemisphere, very best wishes, John, Scarborough Beach, Perth, Au' :)

@@SapphireBlueTravelExplores ...Rangoon was the capital of Burma, I think the country has been renamed Myanma?and presumably the capital has been renamed also? . "to amuse" > Not so many decades before, in the 40s and 50s Empire flying boats would take 5-10 days to travel from London to Australia, that's kinda fun, in the 30s and 40s whenever an aircraft arrived typically one or two a week, there would be a small function at the embassy with a handing over of diplomatic mail and newspapers which course the stewardesses would be expected to attend, and it was while I was flying in the 1960s and 70s that the words "stewardesses are only allowed to take one ball gown on flights" was deleted from the cabin crew manual.., but there was also a sector between Cairo and Luxor/Karnac in Egypt and if you look at the Nile River at Luxor/Karnac you will note that there is absolutely straight section of Nile river 4-5 miles long, the flying boats would literally tie-up outside what is now the Winter Palace hotel, previously the Egyptian Kings Winter Palace (last-gasp of the age of Agatha Christie? ;) ) Very best wishes and thank you for posting :) John, Scarborough, WA

I am a frequent flyer and 777 is the worst widebody plane in the sky these days. As far as quietness is concerned, it's A380 followed by A350, A330neo, B787, B330ceo, B777, B767. Cabin humidity wise, it's A350, B787, A330neo, A380, B777, B767. Airbus aircraft are superior to Boeing's when it comes to passenger comfort. I usually get hate comments but I am an American so there goes honesty. I pick A350 and A380 any day of the week and it takes a lot to get me onto a B777 or B787.

Hey there, I think you are best to chat to the airline about your specific needs. I have seen people in wheelchairs boarding, but as I said your best bet is to go direct to the airline and ask them about their policies and discuss your needs. We love the Uk, this visit we only 2 nights in London before heading to Ireland. I hope you get to visit your brother. At least the QF10 London to Perth does not have a mid flight transfer so you would need to board and disembark once each way. Have a great day.
