With a wing span of up to three feet, the Flying Fox is amongst the largest bats in the world. Whilst these bats can be very dangerous, this documentary follows 'Cinderella', a Flying Fox whose only goal is to get her freedom back.

Bats are some the most important creatures in our ecosystem. They are unsung heroes. From keeping disease ridden mosquitoes down, to distributing fruit tree seeds and pollination. I see the same as I see rabbits, if not cuter. And less destructive..

They are symbols of the Spooky Season yet we Humans do them a great injustice. Bats are assets to us in so many ways. Yet we vilify the as filthy unclean & vile creatures. Bats are the Hero's that Humans need, but not the ones that they deserve. 🦇🦇🦇🦇

If you would like to see daily rescues and follow individual foxes as they grow, and want to see what its like day to day to rescue and rehab sky puppies, follow Megabattie on YT, or Batzilla, Tolga Bat Hospital and others. You can also donate to them which goes to the large community of cooperative carers in Australia. Currently 1/3 of the greys were wiped out in the recent 2018-19 heat stress event. It must be emotional purgatory for these hearty carers, to see so much death and destruction. Its compounded by barbed wire and fruit tree netting which kills or cripples many batties and their babies. But check out Megabattie, Batzilla and Walter the Flying Fox. Its addictive!

For those not informed, Megabattie was attacked by someone like "It's Okay To Be Clown Pilled" here on KZfaq. They kept harassing and finding ways ways to falsely report a bat carer. Obviously it was cleared up by YT, but it took a toll on the carer who is only trying to care for animals and was harassed daily until it was cleared up. Wild fires and evil humans, bats and the carers cannot catch a break.

Stumbled on this by chance. Now also intrigued by flying foxes. It is true what you says about how few people view this. In comparison a couple of young lads gets 20 million views for asking people to smash up their cars and then ..surprise!..give them new ones. By viewing, people allow them to have all these millions of dollars to then go out and buy cars to give away. Even a Lamborghini for a favourite teacher. Why could these people caring for animals not have the same fortune? Society has now accepted the norm of rewarding that which is shallow instead of the real heroes.

It never ceases to amaze me how once humans and their greed moves in, native species suffers possible extinction quickly. Quite frankly, it disgusts me!! I know a certain amount of evolutionary extinction is normal, but it is obscene how fast humans can negatively impact an ecosystem. It is most disheartening that money somehow makes this acceptable to most people. It is uplifting to see organizations and folks like this stepping up to the plate to address this most critical issue. Every species has a place on this planet and entitled to live out their purpose.

I’ve watched her raise baby’s, bringing those ready to crèche so they can learn how to be bats!, and watched releases back to their colony’s. It’s wonderful 😊♥️. It’s amazing they lose their bond with humans as fast as they do. Essential if they’re going to survive. Now we all need to help educate the public on how essential they are. Extinct is forever 😪

don't know why comments are disabled on some of the other videos. anyway, when i was young some 60+ years ago in northeast iowa on the mississippi river there was a plentitude of little brown bats. every evening they poured out of the trees, caves, the eves and chimneys of most of the houses in my neighborhood. at dusk and thru the night they were everywhere. they ate a lot of bugs. i don't remember anyone who did not like them although most would never touch one and that was probably a good thing. but they could be a pest and several times i woke to a bat flying around my bedroom..the cure was a tennis racket. they had trouble echo locating it. i do not think anyone ever tried to wipe them out but between then and now they have all but disappeared. much like the frogs they are killed by a a fungus or virus or some such. white something and now their havens are protected from human contact. do not know where the killer originated. they are going the way of the elm trees, and i am sad to see them go.

@@raven7146 Yeah, I think everyone knows that. The point was obvs that they're cuddly trusting animals. Not that they're literally dogs or cats with wings, Professor. Xcieg literally said "kittens OR dogs". As in, not one of those species (can't be both). In your attempt to be the smart guy in the room, you made yourself look clearly incapable of reading comprehension.

Terry Isaac Not all bats carry rabies. Bats actually hardly ever carry rabies. Most likely only 1 in a million bats would have rabies. You’re way more likely to get rabies from a dog, fox or raccoon than a bat

They are such interesting creatures. Like a bee, they actually defy the laws of physics. You and I are not able to fly, but a bat with the same bone density in body weight can do it with a leather wing. It's absolutely amazing. Tell me there's not a god and I'll tell you there's not a bat or a bee😁
@TechnicolorMammoth
@TechnicolorMammoth 4 жыл бұрын
I agree with you, but I'll just say that nature is amazing. We humans just need a "god" to feel secure. Yet, bats have no god and defy physics. I think that says something more than how we ground ourselves with our own lies.

While looking through KZfaq, I discovered kunekune pigs, Nigerian Dwarf Goats and Flying Foxes of Australia. I like all three of these animals but I get the biggest enjoyment out of the flying fox bat. They are so cute but after they have been around humans who have cared for them and fed them, they are more like a pet than a wild animal. Those Flying Fox Rescue organizations who attempt to save them deserve a vote of thanks and if they exist by donations only, If I knew who to contribute to, I would like to send in a donation every so often to help pay for supplies, food, medical supplies, and fuel since there is no government organizations that deal with this.

I live in Pennsylvania on a farm. Grow Zone 4. We have about three dozen little brown bats that live in our big barn. They hibernate in winter, and where they roost, I put a tarp down to gather the guano to fertilize the garden. They come out at dusk, one by one, and hang in the woods until dark. They then fly around my house and the street lamp we have and catch bugs, mosquitoes are their favorite. If I sit on the front porch with the porch light off, they will fly around me catching mosquitoes. Protecting them is key, they are becoming extinct due to diseases. Most everyone I know kill bats when they find them, not understanding they are social creatures, are part of a family, may be several years old, and are quite intelligent. If you sneak into the barn and listen, you can hear them chattering amongst themselves as they roost. They sometimes get caught in my chimney and climb down and I won’t know it until I’m sitting, on my tablet, and notice a dark shadow flying around the room. I open the door, shut off all the lights, step outside and use ‘bat sounds’ on my tablet to lure them outside. They sometimes are too disoriented to notice an open door...but seek other bats. Their hearing is impeccable, they can ‘hear’ mosquitoes flying and use echo-location to hunt them. They like my farm because we have a spring fed pond so there is always water and mosquitoes. They are protected during storms in my barn. Getting the roof fixed was difficult, finally the Amish said they could do the job without disturbing them. Oh, the looks I got from contractors about ‘saving my bats’ was priceless. They had suggested bombing the inside to kill them off. The Amish guys were inquisitive about them, and extremely respectful. They patched the roof from the inside, used screws instead of hammers, and then carefully installed metal roofing ontop of the existing roof. The Bible says that God told Adam to care for the animals..if we do not, they will disappear forever.

Dogs have animal rights... Flying foxes should too. Thank you for posting this. Everyone should learn to love them dearly. Unless everything about flying foxes, how they pollinate, how to conserve the species, to expand on national conservation territories, how much local tax and national tax are needed for what length of time, what native plants to plant anew, what to look for in what season, what fruit nets to ban, what architecture to ban, what trees not to plant near power lines, how much territories and how much food and water source they need, how much it takes to rescue, heal, restore and rehabilitate, how many are alive for how long after release are not provided as public education to everyone, you will lose the population and likely end up with extinctions. Australian government policies have failed on flying foxes. I'm not a flying foxes expert. No, I'm not. You actually don't need to be one to witness Australian government failures on flying foxes. It's public record. Unless all tax payers and voters are in love with flying foxes through public education and emotional attachments from a young age, and a cultural identity of the people of the land of flying foxes are established, large sanctuaries will be subject to logging, development and they will deminish. You can rescue hundreds of baby flying foxes, make videos but unless their right to thrive, live, eat and fly without danger is fully protected by tax payers' recognition, there will be the so called Natural Forest fires that are actually man made to remove forests for privatization. You've lost a massive population already. You mustn't expect a different result doing the same thing. Let's just be real about scientific facts and data, government policy failures being exposed in KZfaq. If you are wiser, you would be using foundations to buy forests to secure sanctuaries. You have enough fan base, you can do it. If a million fans did an Auto Payment of $100 USD/month, you'll have enough for a few lawyers, draft a bill, get a handful of political leaders, mass media to bring about a change. If you think it's possible, it's possible. If you think it's impossible, it's impossible. It's as simple as that. This is a great video for education. Really really wonderful.
