@@WanderingPathProductions This summer I didn't notice the bats in the trees by my apartment building like a couple years ago. This is in central New York State. Sure hope they are still around. This little area was once a swamp and we get mosquitos every summer.

Not only did bats having nothing to do with this "pandemic," the entire premise of viruses being transmitted through the air is a LIE. Viral particles can only be deliberately transmitted through blood via injection. The bat story was used to add a "demonic, vampirish" aspect to the fear.

Bats help control insects in a balanced way and they reduce our need to rely on toxic and harmful pesticides. The solution is to live with wildlife, rather than exterminating everything.

It’s their instincts to survive, and they need food to survive. Some insects, like mosquitoes, can spread diseases to humans, and even other animals. Bats help prevent that by eating thousands of them. Many bat species are endangered too. Bats mainly eat moths and beetles, not all moths and beetles are endangered, and mosquitoes do no good.

The key I think is to better proof our houses so wildlife can’t get in, but also to be more tolerant of wildlife in their environments. (Like for example, by using less pesticides). For bats, putting up a bat house is a great way to encourage them to move out of your house, but also accepting them nearby at a safe distance :) I recommend BatBnB.com for bat houses :)

Hi, great question. Getting rabies from bats is actually really really rare! Worldwide, it’s more likely to get rabies from a dog. The only way you could get it is if a wild animal bites you. Never touch an animal on the ground because if it is on the ground, it is more likely to be sick. Most healthy bats flying around do not have rabies because if they are sick with rabies, they die within a week and research shows that they usually don’t pass it on to the other bats in their colonies. Also while bats fly in patterns that look erratic to us, they are actually quite precise flyers (you’d have to be to catch mosquitoes!) so it is unlikely that they would run into you. It’s safe to have bats in your yard. If you ever did somehow touch a bat, go to the hospital immediately and ask for a rabies shot and you will be ok. Dr Merlin Tuttle told me that you’re more likely to be killed by a dog or your spouse, so if you’re brave enough to get married and own a dog, you shouldn’t worry much about bats. Bats live all around us peacefully without us noticing. I hope this helps :)

Hi great question! Bats are very safe to have in your yard. Bats will only bite in self defense if they are grabbed with bare hands, never try touching a wild animal. But having them flying around in your yard is perfectly safe and great for getting rid of mosquitoes and other bugs :)

I’d recommend leaving windows open so it can hopefully get out by itself at night. Keep pets away - cats will try to catch them. Don’t ever touch a wild animal, if you see it again call a wildlife rescue center. :) Hope this helps… MerlinTuttle.org has some good resources as well 👍

channel 13 It does exist today, but only 1-2 people die from it a year in the USA, out of tens of millions. If someone gets bit by any wild animal, they should definitely get a rabies shot. As long as people aren’t handling or coming into direct contact with wild animals, they have little reason to fear. :)

On top of that a rabid bat will exclude themselves far from their colony and others and will die quickly and alone after they are infected with rabies. Even sick bats exclude themselves from the colony until they have recovered. Bats are harmless and are highly valuable. You are far more likely to be bitten by a rabid dog, raccoon or cat. A good rule of thumb is do not ever catch or handle bats especially if they are on the ground. Only trained, vaccinated and licensed individuals should have any contact with a bat. Oh and it is a federal offense to kill a bat or destroy their habitats. Automatic felony per bat. The government has ways to find out. Instead put up a bat house or two about fifteen feet high on a post or pole at the back of your property and enjoy being outside at night and not being raided by tons of mosquitoes and other pesky insects. It's a win win for all.
