German trains arrive... When they arrive. Same for Busses and airplanes 😅

Germans value punctuality. But our train system is a mismanaged mess. If you are ever late to an appointment with a german, communicate that you are late. And if you tell them that the train was late, all will be good.

A true master of punctuality manage it to be punctual even with DB in their way. On Thursday I had to be somewhere in Hannover at 2pm so I took a connection where I would have arrived at 12:40. After a delay of the connecting train (30 minutes) and DB playing with us "guess the platform" (a game where the platform would be changed all 5 minutes and you have to guess where it actually would be in the end) to entertain us, I actually made it right on time!

German trains used to always be on time - until the infrastructure got underfunded by austerity for decades.

@@tremondialIt's not underfunded, it's privatised. Germany took inspiration from UK's privatisation of rail and both rail systems are circling the drain thanks to that move. Edit: I was wrong, Deutsche Bahn is a state owned company.
@tremondial
@tremondial 11 күн бұрын
@@markusa5293 It is underfunded. Japan Rail and European rail operators in France, Spain or Italy are also privatised, but don't face the same problems as Deutsche Bahn, because their countries have continuously funded/subsidised their rail infrastructure. Meanwhile for decades German transport ministers were always Bavarian conservatives who systematically diverted funds for rail infrastructure to car infrastructure, becuase it benefitted the Bavarian automobile industry.

@@markusa5293 No, it’s not privatised, that attempt was stopped over twenty years ago. It’s fully state owned, but Germany invested a fraction of what countries like Switzerland or Austria spent (proportionally, it is like one-fifth), so everything is broken.

4:20 „That can‘t be right“ - oh, Pete, you sweet summer child. How do you think Lufthansa earns money? It’s not with great service and customer friendliness, obviously. It’s with extortion. Any Lufthansa-only connection is extremely expensive (try Geneva - Frankfurt). Any short-term booking is extremely expensive. Any change is extremely expensive.

Frankfurt was fine honestly, the Altstadt is cute and they have this really cool museum called the Städel. only the main station is sus af. but idk why this German man wouldn't come to the conclusion that the Japanese couple would probably be travelling around the region for their honeymoon instead of just staying in Frankfurt 😂. probably just wants to chew out the place as a Bavarian

Kinda agree with that man, why would anybody go to Frankfurt for their honeymoon? But I guess I'm from Munich as well 🤣 Munich definitely isn't an hour away from Frankfurt though. They may both be in Germany but Frankfurt is in the center West and Munich in the South-East.

The part with the map just sounds like Connor's inability to apply his problem-solving skills to reading a map... Or just use Google Maps like a normal person? Also, why didn't he just take a train from wherever he was in Germany to (what looks like) Rotterdam? Probably goes more often than the plane does and would be cheaper as well...

I always wonder how this misconception about german trains started to spread around the world. We have one of the worst systems here. If you lie down on the tracks in hope that the train will end you, what will actually happen is you will find your end through starvation before that happens.

If the delay was over 3 hours he was entitled to get any flight to his destination he wanted, and the airline had to pay it, no questions asked. Not only that, they have to pay any other accommodations or transportation you might need to get to your destination.

I have bad news for you, KZfaq does not show view counts in real time, because they need to vet them, because they are tied to ads which ties into money. So the numbers are delayed, so it's probably more... But especially with really low numbers the numbers are accurate. So if it says less than 100 you really are that number. But I believe in you, you can do it ! 🙂

For most of my life, I thought that German trains must be like their highways. Fast, well maintained, over all good quality. Then I started to use them on regular basis. The number of times I got stuck somewhere, because Germans decided to just cancel the train. The number of times, where I bought first class ticket and then had to switch to regular commuter train, because Germans have decided to cancel my train half way... German railroads are a joke. That's why I lmfaod hard, when German railroad workers were on strike. Bruh, for this kind of performance, you deserve to be paid half potato a day and nothing more. I literally never arrived anywhere in Germany even remotely on time using German trains. For any trip under 7 hours (with available parking at the final destination), I use a car.
@Jorolfs
@Jorolfs 12 күн бұрын
The train drivers went on strike and they are almost never to blame for late or cancelled trains? Most of the time it's because of broken or old infrastructure or busy routes where one delay means that every train after it has to wait as well.
@Erzhler
@Erzhler 12 күн бұрын
I don't think you should blame the workers for the problems. If it were a rare problem then maybe but because it's so frequent it's a systematic problem. It's a problem since unification back in the 90's. Since then to now the government did little to improve the railroad system (I mean just look at from which party and who our minister of transport is (mostly conservatives and liberals). And since our car industry is so important for the economy, public transport will always be neglected
