Flying Scotsman Slips on Shap 2/7/16

LNER A3 60103 Flying Scotsman was the motive power for The Railway Touring Company's steam tour 'The Hadrian' on Saturday 2nd July 2016. We see Scotsman in fine form passing a rather wet and windy Shap Wells and then with footage from Mark 60103 slips on the final approach to Shap Summit which was expertly caught by the driver. The tour was running from Leicester to Carlisle and was steam hauled from Carnforth to Carlisle on the outward leg.

Two wonderful clips Phil, no matter what loco Gordon is driving, it always sounds spot on, and his obvious skills are clearly demonstrated in controlling that slip....Bob

Thanks for showing video. I was a passenger on this trip so we never get to see these amazing views that you and other enthusiasts do. Typical that a unit should get in the way, just as FS centres itself in the frame! As for the 'slipping' I'm surprised it didn't happen earlier on the club, given the prevailing weather!
