, very nice work looks sweet, quit is the best part. What did you use for the cutter blades? it must have a little mass to split the wood and not slowdown. Thank you for the video. Maybe sometime your water jet might make it on here?.

I used a piece of 5/8" AR-400 for the wedge. It's about the size of an axe blade. Yes, wanting to do a couple of waterjet videos soon.

Very impressive! Good job. Are you happy with it as is or do you plan any more modifications? I like that it's electric so it can be used indoors and the noise level is low. Does the "bong" noise get old after a while? Is that the table or the expanded metal making that vibration? Lastly, I'm curious if there is a tough log that won't split...gum, elm etc and can that damage the belts or pulleys? Again, I think this looks awesome and you have a lot to be proud of. Good job again.

Joe Nay Hi. The bong noise is from the wheel itself. Similar to hitting a rim that doesnt have a tire on it with a hammer I guess. So far, its split all the wood I've put in it, and some of it was green, knotty pine. I had a hard time splitting some of it with my 6 lb. maul, but the machine didn't have any problems. I think if it does "stop" from a tough piece, it would just slip the belts and not damage anything. No, I don't plan to modify it at this time. It seems to be working well and is actually fun to use.
