Years ago I had a parkzone T-28 (44" wingspan). One day it went up too high and the wind blew it so far I could no longer tell the front end from the rear end. I kept moving the controls until the small speck in the sky was slowly getting larger. It was a miracle I got it back. 😹

Always had a special place in my heart for bi and tri wings. Built a balsa wood Dr 3 when in my 20 s. Rubber band powered and crashed it on the maiden. So, fixed it and put it on display in the den and never flew it again. This plane is larger than mine but the color reminds me of the Red Barron and my Dr3. Thanks for the memories and the excellent video. 👍👍😀

The range on a Spektrum radio depends entirely on your use of a Spektrum RX that has a port or ports for their satellite receivers. I take advantage of additional Spektrum satellite receivers mostly for peace of mind and have had Spektrum since its beginnings without any issues at all. In my latest Giant Scale (30%) cub I am using a Spektrum 10 channel RX that offers two ports for omnidirectional satellite receivers and I use them both. Peace of mind.

For the FPV drone pilots, such as myself, we all abandoned Spektrum for the control of drones due to the poor range and penetration. Today you won’t find any FPV pilot using Spektrum. However, anything in the RC hobby that does not have a need for range or penetration, such as Planes, helicopters, cars, boats are still perfectly fine with Spektrum. When it comes to planes, I do indeed still use Spektrum.

Steve I’ve been following your channel for at least a year or two, and learned a lot about drones from your reviews. I own three DJI drones now. Anyway, I’ve thought about getting into RC planes too and how difficult is it to learn after years of drones ?? Thanks. Great video. !
@CAPTAINDRONE798
@CAPTAINDRONE798 7 ай бұрын
If you had never flown a drone then your learning curve would be normal and scary. Since you have flown DJI drones your brain has an understanding of an object going away from you and coming towards you and joystick movement so your learning curve is cut in half. People that fly FPV drones have next to no learning curve in flying RC planes. Watch my video showing the Hobby Zone Aeroscout and Carbon Cub. I explain the joystick movement for newbies in that video.

Hi Steve. Love that plane. I just bought one a week ago myself. Can you tell me if you left the Aileron, Elevator and Rudder travels, set to full travel at High Rate? There seems to be quite a discrepancy between the manual’s recommendations and the operation as assembled.
@CAPTAINDRONE798
@CAPTAINDRONE798 7 ай бұрын
I never bother with the manuals as far as servo travel for the simple reason I fly every plane with dual rates set at 100% and 30 to 40% Expo. I move the right joystick very little thus no weird events in flight. Also I fly with two joysticks (as a FPV drone pilot) so I’m constantly modulating throttle and elevator and rudder in turns.

It's nice but it's not really 3d in the hardcore sense, the surfaces are too small especially the ailerons, it will do hard ariobatics though ie flicks and snaps etc etc where there is plenty of speed going into the stunt. 3d required the ailerons to be large and have airflow from the prop strong enough over them in a hover to control the rotation allowing prop hanging and hovering etc, I remember there was a prop that was controlled pitch to go negative thrust too so plane could fly backwards in the right hands but in average hands could at least fly at ground and stop turn around and go back up lol, called that 4d hahaha.

I too had a Byron Pitts that I sold, but also a Byron Christen Eagle (50cc) that I re-kitted 110% in a tree line I thought I was in front of coming out of split S to do a long, low inverted pass. Now, as you can see, my FMS Pitts is just ceiling art for far better longevity. 👍

If you want to learn 3d I strongly suggest NOT learning on this one but instead something made from epp, I built one from sheet epp some 20 years ago and learned on that , crashed it hard multiple times every flight and it either did no damage or was a quick glue or tape fix and back in the air, Nothing teaches you more than crashing hndreds of times over and over without fear until you get it nailed down solid lol. This model looks great though, I would like to see it put through its paces once you get your skills to 3d level.

Don’t you love the Canadian dollar. It makes people like yourself almost double the price since the exchange rate is bad and then you think I’m crazy when I say an item is not that expensive for what you get. Now people in the US find this to be a great price especially with the upcoming Black Friday prices. You get what you pay for and this is by far the best value for this size and build quality of PITTS. I’m starting to think you believe the RC hobby is an under $100 Canadian dollar hobby. In the RC hobby you get what you can afford. RC planes are very inexpensive compared to Drones, so thankfully you’re not in the higher end DJI drone hobby. I Try to review items under $1000 US because that is the average most in the US will spend in the hobby.
