I mainly focus on pre-match training. Pre-season: Session 1. Team Tactics 2. Teamwork 3. Match preview. During season: 1. Teamwork 2. Attacking movement/defence shape 3. Match preview. I also add some sessions here and there for goalies and set-pieces.

The most important thing to know about training is : It matters for under 18 players, over 18 get training from playing matches. Training is kinda useless for most of the players at a club, except it matters for injuries and keeping match fit. I've not yet tested it, but I want to test if using set piece training all year isn't the best training possible for the main team. (it give some kind of in match buff.) I don't think SI has released the numbers, but I guess it's something like under 18 training/matches 80%/20% and opposite for over 18. This means it's self defeating to lend out under 18 players, because your club most likely has better training facilities than anyone they join. At the same time you wan't over 18 loanies to play matches at a good level.

Although the video was a good all round guide to Training, enabling a quick overview. I felt the narrator was far to fast talking and difficult to keep up with. I feel a quick guide around the screens with just the basic introduction, and less hurried detail, would have been better. Followed by several staged videos giving the depth needed for the various aspects of Training. I think this would have been more beneficial. Just my opinion.

They've removed the decimal on the progress screen this year. Now it just says the integer, although you can see when it has gone up by a decimal as it'll have the same number but have either gone up or down

I think a less hurried video focusing just on training would have been more use. I enjoy setting the training its an important part of developing the squad, I also have adjusted my team so they have the best Assist Manager in charge (wasnt the case when I started the game) and I also adjust rest periods after matches and ensure there are match preview/tactical/practice sessions before every match. Seems to be working well. You can also rest individual players for a day or two if they are playing in all your matches and you dont want to overtire them. And take note of the injury assessments because its best to reduce training intensity for anyone who is likely to keep getting injured due to repeating long term problems.

I always get feedback that I have too much “strength” training but can’t figure out why - can’t specifically take it out either

How do you do the core training for goalkeepers?? What coach do I need for that because I have a goalkeeper coach and physio couch but still players complain about not getting more training help please!!!!

You ideally want minimum 2 goalie coaches, 1 for shot stopping, 1 for handling and distribution, and I also like to have a 3rd just in case, all those 3 should have 16/17+ for all the goalkeeper stats, and I also like to have a general coach, who has 11-15 in most coaching attributes, this includes goalkeeping. Hope this helps mate!(sidenote I'm at arsenal so I can have 14 coaches, I'm not sure how many you can have though)

I'm curious as to what kind of training sessions would work with a 4231 with counterpressing, slightly direct passing, high tempo and positive mentality.

I have 7 coaches 3 GK, 2 Fitness, 1 Att, 1 Possesion. Do I still utilise the assistant manager and under 23 manager on coach assignments? And myself obviously or just leave it to the main coaches

I thought with the Overlap training meant you could keep WB and FBs in the defensive unit.

Does anyone know if players grow more if they get high match ratings or if it's just on game time / matches played?

Match practice is complex. 1) Reputation of league. 2) Every minute of game experience. More than 45 minutes gives extra boost of match expreince. 3) Good match rating increase, bad match rating decrease ability of match experience. For example you are a manager of Premier League team. You want to give match experience to your 19 old player with CA between Championship and League One. So there are two teams to choose. Weak team in Championship and top in League One. He will be rotation player with less match experience and bad match rating in Championship team. Because team loses most of matches and CA of players of team is higher than your player. He will be first team player with more match experience and good match rating in League One team. Because team wins most of matches and CA of players is less than in Championsip team. So this team is better to choose despite reputation of League One is less than Championship. So it's a good thing to have affiliate teams in different leagues with different reputation. For example reputation of Serie B and 2. Bundesliga are between Championship and League One. So top italian or german team from second division is better than english League One for the same match experience.

Can I make the assistant take the training itself, and be able to change the players position and what they should train on myself?

Jon-Fredrik Johansen yes mate go to staff then on responsibilities and select training. There you’ll see where you can delegate the team training to your assistant
