Thank you for your detailed & learnable (that a word? LoL) tutorials- you explain everything so well & in a way that’s clear & easy to duplicate. Not all tutorials explain why something is done, what to do if a small mistake is done, or share a method that would things easier.

I love the way you teach. You explain everything in detail and simply so a novice can understand but a more experienced knitter won't be bored. I love that you show how to do it in both knitting styles. Your little tips are great. I was thinking what if I can't tell if I'm picking up the correct stitch and you give me the answer. I would love to spend an afternoon knitting and chatting with you. Maybe if I win the Lotto I'll come visit your store. A girl can dream.

As always, super good tutorial. I'm all caught up with my UFO's and been eager to start painting bricks socks. I usually make 64 stitch sock but am doing this with the 60 stitch. If it's too small for adults I have some grandchildren for whom they will fit. Folded hem certainly.

I'm doing a top-down sweater right now. I knitted all the rest of the sweater first, and then went back to add the collar using the method shown in this video. After I had folded over the ribbing and attached it to itself as shown in the video, I casted off using this cast off: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nsePirt2rKuYqZs.html This worked well for me and I will probably do it the same way the next time I knit a top-down sweater.

I just made rhe February hat which used provisional cast on and placed those stitches on a separate needle. Both fiddly, and not totally sure it was faster.

I crashed and burned and lost a whole cuff…. 😢It looks so easy but I just couldn’t see how to pick up the stitches when I came to do it. I’m doing this as part of the Dustland Sock pattern. I think I will just do a normal ribbed cuff without the folding element. 😊

Can you do this with any stitch and still look okay? For example doing Garter not stockentte or ribbing for the collar

@koetjeco

If you cast on the start with a temporary crocheting chain and remove that when you want to pick up for closing you never have trouble with tension. Is that right?

what about if you want to keep the ribbing going, can you purl too!
@moonbowartshandknits
@moonbowartshandknits 2 жыл бұрын
I would do all the pick up row as knit, then ribbing could resume. I think the purl stitches would look a little bulky with the yarn being brought front to back. I could be wrong but that's what my brain is telling me lol

That was my first thought but you’re not always going to be able to do a provisional cast on. E.g on the hem or the cuffs of a top down jumper.
@alphabo1
@alphabo1 2 жыл бұрын
@@caro1591 Why not? At the end of the ribbing you pick from the provisional cast on instead of the long tail cast on
@caro1591
@caro1591 2 жыл бұрын
@@alphabo1 I might be being dim here but if it’s a top down sweater, you will have cast on at the neck and not at the bottom hem. 🤔
