The consistent close-ups with the brother and sister are made EVEN MORE awkward when it cuts to a wider angle when the parents arrive. Really frames it like the parents interrupted an intimate moment. And why does the mother wake up so sensually!? 10/10 ad.

No daughter. -The casting director was told to find non-union talent, so neither had previous experience. -The sister (Catherine Combs) in this commercial is the daughter of Jeffrey Combs, a frequent actor on many Star Trek series (most notably Weyoun in DS9). She's mostly devotes her time to Broadway and off-Broadway performances now but has had some small but notable TV/film roles, including NCIS New Orleans, The Deuce and The Blind Side. -The brother (Matthew Alan) has been on many films/shows, but notably had larger roles in Castle Rock and 13 Reasons Why -Even after they shot it, everyone involved only saw a sweet sincere family moment, not incest. The Internet just blew it up. -The age gap between the sibling actors is 11 years. -The actress looks older than what they were initially targeting (13 years old). The thing is this commercial would be 50% more normal if the sister was a small child. Then the brother acting like he doesn’t recognize her would make sense, because he’s implying she’s grown, and the sister saying “[I’m your] sister” would make sense because that’s how a kid responds to that comment. It would make sense to have her sit on the kitchen counter because she’s little. I don’t know any adults who would do that. And it would be cute of her to say he’s her present this year, not… weird, and he could look at her with an “aw” of affection that suits the interaction, rather than this look which comes off as creepy.

Let’s just make this a family commercial!“. But by then, most of the dialogue and scenes had been clipped and put together, and the deadline for the commercial was literally breathing down their necks. So now, instead of a wholesome husband and wife being back together for the holidays over coffee, instead we get this colossally monumental train wreck that literally screams, “to see the rest of this video, go to this obscure set of letters website. We promise it will not put viruses and spyware on your device”.
