Are you concerned about how far the toe is stretched forward? Shouldn't the toe be rockered and backed up more to where is would be if there was no toe flare? Also, how do you help a horse like this that is base narrow and wears the lateral sides of all 4 hooves. I was hoping to see more about this issue.

From what I understood he would address this later on as he wanted to make minor adjustments, a slow progressive transition toward a balance set. 🤣 five years ago...

This is a western pleasure horse and shows some but is also for general riding.

Why is it farriers are so ready to rasp and sand the walls of the hoof it use to be only when needed. It was thought the outside hoof wall protected the hoof now sand or rasp with no thought.

Many feel that the old concept of periople is not so valid and they want to dress the wall and then apply a coating to help with protection. Often there are minor deformities to the wall that are improved by the dressing they do.

I think the breeders of horses need to give more thought to conformation. This poor lad has been in pain for years and he's certainly not fit to ride

(5:47) long toe..contracted heel...(7:17 ) so if he's wearing hard on the outside why is the bar long ? The lateral heel is fine (trim the bar) the medial heel is long. Can't trust any hoof deviation until you fix the pathogen infection. (13:50) look at the curve in the hairline at the quarters...this horse screams long toe...that hoof is 70/30 toe to heel. (16:55) there you go again rasping through pigmented wall. (21:38) way too long a toe..fix break over. when you rasp the face of the hoof wall at the toe you're hiding the flare not fixing the flare...all you're doing is weaken the hoof wall. fix the flare from the bottom...You are so clueless

Correct, there was a lot more that could have been trim´d off. I cringe everytime I see a shoer dressing the Hoof wall! I call it "OVERWORKING THE HOOF" and there is no reason for it other than cosmetic.

There is no need to touch the hoof wall to pull back the toe more...pull break over back from the bottom...toe rocker...that way you can leave wall to protect P3 but reduce stresses that cause flaring..

LOL, you people picking this (unfinished) job apart, but can't see the forest for the trees. This shoeing was split into 3 videos. If you watch the other 2 videos you will see those long toe issues were addressed "from the bottom". And this "trim more off, but save the wall to protect P3" is the funniest thing I've read all week!
