@@maxstrength2963 Wrong, Essendon players did not admit to using “banned stuff” and were in fact cleared by the AFL tribunal but it was referred to the CAS who found guilty on the basis that they could not prove they had not.

Jobe had to have the medal taken from him once he got a suspension under the drug code. As much as Tony Jones says he wants it proven, these players have it drilled into them they need to know everything they take. As soon as they admitted to taking substances and not knowing what they were, they were in breach. And the reason is that people were designing illegal drugs for use, and athletes were taking them before they could be banned. So the rule was changed to illegal until legal. And that one supplement they were claimed to be taking wasn't legal. The saddest part is all the people involved who messed up their responsibilities, players, senior players, coaches, administrators and sports scientists have not put their hand up to admit their mistake.

@deflow. It's an AFL policy to "CONSIDER" all supplements not registered to be illegal till made legal. So he got his facts right.

@Steve Scott. The onus is on the individual to ask questions. If you don't ask questions and still take it then suffer the consequences if there are any. The players admitted they didn't ask questions and still took it, that's a breach of contract and in this case there was consequences....They got what they deserved for being so gullible.

@@lunch2102 obviously you didn't watch much of essendon from 2009-2014 during jobes prime. He was a contested clearance king who averaged around 27 touches per game during that run along with 7 clearances, 15 contested disposals and around 15 goals a season as an inside mid. He was an inspirational captain who stood infront of the AFL and protected his players. He was a champion of the game.

He gave it directly to Gill Mclachlan when they lost their final appeal against being banned in court, even though they were initially found not guilty. But i dont think they actually requested him to give it back, pretty sure he chose to return it.

I hate how everybody blames the dons when I guarantee most teams in the comp were using the same substance that year, but essendon were the scape goats. Stephen Dank was a renowned sports scientist/biochemist who didn't just work for essendon 🙄... and the "supplement" was legal in 2012
