The 308 Norma Magnum and the 300 Win Mag are identical ballistically and were introduced at approximately the same time back in the mid 60s. But the 300 Win Mag took all the popularity honors. Today, ammo for the Norma Magnum is hard to find - For owners of these rifles, here is some ammo available...

Those boxes are over 90 a box here in Canada. Gun Dealer I know just ran a blow out sale on most of his old/odd stock. Crazy deals, had 4 boxes of this exact same 308 Norma for $20 a box. Now that's a deal!!

Great Video! I have a Remington 1903A3 rechamberd for .308 NORMA MAG. Purchased it along with complete reloading equip. .308 NORMA MAG. Dies set incld'd. along with 6 boxes of NORMA .308NORMA MAG. in various bullet grains/weights & types but every box looks just like in your video. In 1991or '92 purchased everything in a bundle package deal, after I had shot the rifle to verify the accuracy, well even with NORMA Ammunition from 1968 the Remington 1903A3 shot more accurate than any rifle I had ever shot repeatedly shot after shot. I figured I had a deer rifle that if I ever wanted to could be used for MOOSE as the previous 9 owner (MR. HAINES Lansing Mich.) had in 1968 in which he shot a huge Moose at over 600yrds. (across a lake) and was featured on MORTENEFF'S Michigan Outdoors in 1968 with his Moose. I have never went on a hunting trip like that. but 1 thing I can say is, on Michigan Whitetails 1 well place shot is all it takes. No matter how big! I was running low on .308 NORMA MAG. brass after all these years. I was able to locate brand new Norma brass from Midway USA very good quality brass to. I’ve got what I think is an old Mauser that has been repurposed into a hunting rifle by globe firearms chambered in 308 Norma mag. Would love to be able to fire it someday

The Norma Mag predates the Winchester 300 Mag by 3 years.

Hi The easiest way t obtain .308 Norma Mag ammo is to just full-length size a .300 Win Mag case, which are abundant! That is, if you are reloading - if not, then it's time to start!

+dkvideopilot -- Great point for reloading...I always tell 44 mag and 45 Colt shooters who bring those little boxes of ammo to the range to start reloading. Most won't shoot their guns much because of the high price of ammo...but I sure do like them leaving their brass behind for me to pick up - on second thought - "No need to reload, you only need 20-30 rounds of those blasters to stay in practice anyway...that's all Dirty Harry ever needed. And 'sides, you don't really want to mess around with all those nasty caps and dirty shell casings - shooting factory is the only way to go!!" Hmmm, do you think that would work?? FC

The 30-338 is a identical round and much easier to convert 338 brass, 300 wm. Brass tends to wrinkle ip as the shoulder is pushed back,

I own a Parker Hale 308 NM, I bought 100 rounds 20 yrs ago still have about 65 rounds left, just do long range shooting now.

AU - Oh no, that ammo I had sold long ago... it sure looked good, but I knew that I'd never be getting a 308 Norma Magnum. I'd be getting a 300 Win or 300 Weatherby instead. I actually wound up with a 375 H&H and 458 Win. Best to ya, Steve

Superior to the 300 win mag via its case design. If it didn’t have a belt it’d be perfect.

Since these are so hard to find, is it possible to cast/reload them? That would be an impressive feat to me.

uberLejoe - Absolutely OK to cast any number of 308" bullet designs for this caliber. However, I don't own any 308 Norma Magnum rifles…and one other thing - most owners of any of the big belted 30 cal magnums bought these for shooting Mach 3. Much more likely to shoot cast bullets in a standard caliber like 308 Win, or 30/06, or 54R, or 30/30. Now the 458 Win Magnum would be a different story - cast bullets there would be a trip…If I ever cast bullets for my 375 H&H, I'll be thinking of your comments (gotta buy some reloading dies first) - Best Regards...

I believe standard 300 win mag cases can be sized and trimmed to length to make usable ammo, they wouldnt be as high quality as the excellent Norma factory ammunition FC has here though, thats some really good brass and may be worth holding on to as a collectors item :-)

Has anybody took 308 Norma brass used and ran it through eight 300 die and shot 308 Norma out of a 300 is it possible I believe you would have to shoot it one time because the 308 Is Mike shorter

I have to make my own to shoot my 308 noma mag 1 in 10 twist barrel and Chrome plated surprisingly on a Springfield A3 receiver the thumb hole stock all custom out with the renfield scope 3 9

My dad had a custom rifle built in the 60's chambered in 308 Norma Mag on the mauser action with one of the first model leupolds made, This is the most accurate rifle I have ever shot and have won money shooting against other custom builds. Let me know what you have to have and how many if you would FC.
