I’m a 30 year old woman, still a virgin not married. and I wish I could send this to my father ( he’s still my provider).. he’s in his 60s and my whole life growing up, I’ve always seen him on the edge & complaining not having enough money! Never been stable having his own house as well! My 2 brothers are younger than me and sadly now they are repeating his patterns because he never taught them nothing about what it means to be a man not even to be a man with money! Recently he’s been trying to use my name my older sister’s name as well in an illegal way to got money but we’re just wouldn’t allow it! He got big families! Brothers and sisters!.. and he would always take advantage for them to give him money or help him with it! I’m so disappointed at him and feel embarrassed and don’t and never have respect for him.

This doesnt apply to every man oo. I was living in a single room when i met my wife and i was a teacher. Three years later we got married. Long story short, our marriage is twelve years old, we have 3 children and we are doing very well financial. Things didnt immediately turn around for us after our marriage, but my wife was a great support and managed ever resource i made available then, no matter how small. She never disrespected me and that is why i dont spare any expense when i want to spoil her now. So it doesnt apply to every man and marriage. Lessons like this will only cause young men to go looking for money by all means necessary. Ask the rich men in Nigeria today whether they were wealthy before they got married...

My parents lived during a time of war when they were only school children. They always tell me how they were hiding in basements and going to school during the bombings and shootings of innocent civilians. Well, they only got the most basic education (1-4 grade) and didn't have the chance to get more educated because the situation was getting worse. That's why I respect every cent my parents earn though their hard work and appreciate every little gift from them even if it is only a sock. I got a laptop from them as a celebration for finishing 9th grade. Now I'm aiming even higher to give my parents at least something back.

Real respect is supposed to be a CHARACTER TRAIT (who you are), not a transactional tool you earn, lose, barter or use to get what your Ego desires... You should respect others because YOU are a respectful person, and doing otherwise would be acting out of character (thus, no one should EVER have the power or control to make you be disrespectful & figuratively act out of your respectful character). If your kids don't respect you because you have no money, it means you failed at raising respectful humans. Once respect becomes something to be bought/earned, it is no longer character. It becomes a commodity/tool. And just like commodities and tools, it can be lost or controlled by external factors.

Dear Doctor, a fatherless young man here. Your word cut my heart deeper than any blade. Now yours were more like a blade of harsh truths. The truths which I used to deny due to my infantility. Money is a foundation. I’m 26 now and I have just realize that all my problems, be them mental-wise, health-wise, relationship-wise were based upon my poverty mindset. Again, I say I denied that money talks. My so-called spiritual and cloud-nined ego was so “above” the essence of money that it led to circumstances where all I think, wish, cry and talk about is money. My thousand thanks for the knowledge you give. I feel shattered yet so grounded because I shook off the illusion I lived in. It will take time but now I’m determined to change.
