I lived in the south of Merida when I first arrived I had a very nice studio with air, kitchen fully funrnished security, and walled compaound. That areas is mostly generation of families with many years of living there, big homes . Its older area but nice and only a short uber ride to central.

More impressed with the Philippines if I have to put up with that kind of heat ! -- Especially because they speak English and 'that' makes your life much easier. --?-- Your money goes further too as one US expat reports living 70% less than the US !!! He has a 3 br house in a gated community (for security) with a pool and gym for $225 / month ! (Cebu area) Mexico's prices are going up in many places & their immigration isn't as friendly as the Philippines. There you can even get a 3 year tourist visa before you have to leave the country for 1 day & then you can start 3 years all over if you want to ?!? > Much easier than Mexico & their "guessing game" they play when your wanting a tourist visa. --?--

Thank you Mr. Ross it looks more industrial than a more manicured country club like. Please continue to provide these drive-by neighborhood exploration. They are much needed.

@@lovemydog440 WHo said i wasn't saving money? That was my purpose for moving here, to cut expenses so i could save more and invest. I'm living extremely well, without the stress, hustle and bustle, and keeping more of my money... A much better quality life here versus when I was there (U.S.). The savings are a big plus, but the quality of life is much better. Hard to understand without being here to experience what I'm saying. But the whole point in moving here was to save. You're probably catching the newer videos and didn't see the earlier videos where I go into detail explaining why i moved. I've been transparent in saying that I did not do a good job planning for retirement; as I near 50 years old, I realize I got about 15-years to get things right before I turn 65. My goal -- figure out how to drastically cut my expenses without sacrificing my quality of life. That process led me to exploring other countries where my money stretches much farther (and i decided Mexico would be my spot when Colombia didn't work out). That's why I'm here. So yes, I'm saving a boatload compared to what I was doing in the States, and I'm much happier and relaxed where I'm at (something I didn't factor into the equation -- just a huge benefit). That was the goal (in a nutshell). I have no qualms with the U.S., I love it. However, after being here for 2 1/2 years, I'll likely be making this home.
